Those sets were made all over the world from early 1900's on up to the 1970. I'v seen lots of German ones made in Solingen, Imperial made them in the US, some Japanese factory had also made some. I know of one Hungarian factory that produced those, Kéziszerszámgyár (translates to Handtools Factory) and it appears that yours was made there by the stamps.

Here's a picture I found of one of their factory units.

I have about 9 sets from Germany, Japan, England and USA (also Hungary) ;)
Even I write small article, about such sets, but it is in polish:

If I may I would like to post a few of my tool kits in this thread. The ones shown above are really great! The unusual ones for me anyway are the 1st that is actually a picnic set and the Japanese one that has the adjustable wrench as the tool handle.I may have to make a couple of posts.

Okay, here we go: :)

Utica Cutlery

Bonsa Gardener's Kit. Has two handles, an extra-long saw blade, a grafting knife, a hawksbill knife, and a set of pruning shears.

A fishing kit marked only JAPAN

Also from Japan, this one stamped SEKI

A kit by Hubeo, with instructions in German

The same company made this one. Hubeo = Hugo Berns. The plier tool is also a handle for the different blades

On this one the handle pivots, allowing the blade to nest into a pocket. Marked Ebruder GS

An Aerial Cutlery kit. Aerial's method of holding the blades may not have been as strong as the others, but the knife handles are so pretty :dd:

There is an antique store near me that always has at least five of these sets. Unfortunately they are all around $200 and I'm not going to pay that much for them

Yeah, there are some on eBay right now with crazy high prices too. What I've found is that if you wait long enough, either the price comes down or a cheaper set comes along. :)

Fantastic kits! I have never seen the gardener's kit of the fishing kit. Your cases are in vastly better shape than most of mine.I don't keep them stored in the cases as it sometimes traps moisture.
Also: Although that Aerial has beautiful handles I would not store it with any other knives as the celluloid has a tendency to degrade over time and gives off nitric acid fumes which will quickly rust a blade and corrode brass.Once it begins;there is no stopping it.
It is strange but I have some near hundred year old knives with cel handles that are like brand new.I also have some that are perfect on one side and completely destroyed on the  other)I will show a pic in a moment).
I have found that they are best preserved when stored in an open area that is dry and not excessively hot.Be careful if you oil the joints ;do not get any oil on the handles and if you do wipe immediately.Do not polish them too hard as friction causes heat buildup.
Here is a picture of an Aerial coke bottle folder that has a decent handle on one side and complete breakup on the other.I replaced the bad one and even though it lost much of it's value at least the knife was saved.Wasn't a big deal as I only paid $4 for the knife.

Okay, here we go: :)

Osos:
The red handled set is unmarked but looks to be possibly German. The other set is marked simply"Made in Spain" and the instructions are in Spanish. There is a mark on the case consisting of a shield with a banner on a pole crossing it diagonally and on the shield is what looks like part of a cadeucus on a doctor's emblem. It is a registered trademark(little R in a circle)and says Albacete under it.I'll put up some pictures later.

I´m sorry - It´s the only set of this kind that I own.
It is in it´s original cardboard box and has  no stamps except "Rostfrei" (stainless)
As far as I can tell, it is unused and I won´t use it eiother, so it´s up for sale or trade.
I could be teased with some Gerber stuff easily.
