PPP plier head shape
on: January 28, 2014, 07:57:37 PM
I was goofing around with the Pocket Powerplier the other day, and noticed this...

The slant on the needle nose plier is all on one side. This allows the plier head to be laid against a flat surface without the tool gears and body getting in the way, like this...

Good design. I don't know how often it would be needed, but nice that it was considered.

I'd always thought it was to ease tool storage. Good thinking BatLynn!

It's funny I just saw this thread and I was just playing with my PPP a few minutes ago.  I was wondering if that's why the plier head was designed that way, or if it was related to tool storage.  Whether intentional or not, it's a nice feature for whenever it could be useful

Yeah. I'm not sure now. Looking at the design, the tool handles start narrow, flair out, run the length, and narrow again. I think the narrowing at the back is only there so that the front and back of the tool use the same size connecting screws. Whether or not that drove the design decision of the plier head shape, I can't say, or if it was the other way around.

Interesting...  Hard to say I suppose.  Still a nice design, whether they intended it for that purpose, or just a coincidence.

I totally just realized what I said there   Kinda funny though

I'm not going to 'touch that one'.

I'll just 'leave it hanging'.

You must be 'nuts' to think I'd say anything about that.
