Thanks guys.

Yes it's best not to interfere with the current 8th anniversary giveaways. Hopefully the challenge coins and tools will be a nice conclusion to the festivities.

Excellent idea on the giveaway Microbe, It somehow never occurred to me.
Any suggestions on a fair giveaway system other than the usual "pick a number"?
Pictures of most of my work can be found on my Facebook Page.

Since it is a poker chip, how about choosing a card (either by naming it or by posting a picture) from the poker deck, that gives 52 slots. You then draw a card (random.org can do that too ;)).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I was wondering what was going on with the projects. Thanks for the update and excellently done. :hatsoff:

I think it's better to leave the production for early Autumn. The forum finances might be a bit strained with all the shipping costs of the giveaways we'll be running this year. :ahhh

At least Grant already saved on shipping costs at one certain giveaway  :P :P

Not really- Derek's prize is in California.  :D

You could always fly me down to get it.  :pok:  Total cost won't be cheaper, but you would save on actual shipping charges. :D

Early to late Autumn probably. They will be listed on our auction site EDCSource.com but you'll get lots of notifications about it here on the forum and probably a newsletter email about them with links to where they can be ordered. :salute:

Can we order the tools/coins separately or will there just be one "bundle" purchase?

As far as I know, this is not decided yet. The general idea was to produce one after the other (coins first, obviously) in order not to go bankrupt. On the other hand shipping them individually will increase shipping cost dramatically. So in the end its a monetary decision probably depending on the bank at the end of this month (lots of shipping cost for all the GAWs).

So, ultimately the only response I can give you is to be patient, order a Gerber Flick or a LM OHT, so you have something to play with and shorten the wait >:D

Sorry, I missed Scorpion008's original post.

What Etherealicer say was initially the case, but we are now working on the premise that the two coin designs will be ordered together from the manufacturer as it is the most economic choice.

The challenge items will therefore be available in the following ways:
1. Microbe's Belt Tool, Raukodur's Keychain Coin and Microbe's Poker Chip (the full set),
2. Belt Tool and Poker Chip (the microbe set),
3. Keychain Coin and Poker Chip (the coin set).

The full set will be the best value due to reduced postage costs, while the microbe set well cost considerably more than the coin set as the belt tool is the most expensive item to have produced.

The 2014 Multitool.org Challenge Items are now available on EDCSource

There are three different sets available for purchase:

The Full Set, which includes all 3 items.
http://www.edcsource.com/118193,auction_id,auction_details

The Microbe Set, which includes the poker chap and belt tool.
http://www.edcsource.com/118190,auction_id,auction_details

The Coin Set, which includes the poker chip and keychain coin.
http://www.edcsource.com/118192,auction_id,auction_details

Raukodur's Coin is available with two different hole patterns: The symmetrical pattern, shown above and the asymmetrical pattern, shown below. Please note that only 9 of the asymmetrical patterned coin are available and once they're gone, that's it.

The Raukodur Coins are engraved on both sides. This is the text on the reverse.

The two stainless steel pieces come, as standard, with a tumble polished finish, which smooths and deburrs the edges, removes the burn marks and polishes the two faces. It also removes the burnt oxide from the laser engraved text, so after polishing the text losses it's darker colour, but is still very clear, due to the depth of the engravings.

However untumbled coins and tools are also available on request, for those people who may want to finish the items in their own way and are comfortable using the necessary equipment, like: a belt sander, Dremmel type tool, or just a few sheets of various grit sandpaper. These items are certainly not in a finished, wearable state, so please be aware.

Well, its been paid for... so too late, but in my "won orders" I was able to add a note, maybe that works, otherwise its not really a disaster.

All three designs look perfect. They are very artistic in my opinion. That says something about MTO members. We are not crude "just blade and tool" lovers but we like creativity with aesthetic principles, as much as functionality, form tied to function. This is civilization and compatible with our high moral and communicational standards I'm very proud of.
I hope that we'll be having equally fine creations the following years, in order to collect substantial memorabilia about our great hobby and forum.

Thanks Aaron,
I wrote the feature months ago, so it was a big surprise when it appeared last week. I'm now completely swamped with correspondence, which I now realise I'm entirely unprepared to cope with. I shouldn't complain, but it's just happened at a rather unfortunate time, when I'm not best suited to monopolize of the increased interest in my work.
