Hi, welcome to  :MTO: !

I would like to see some before and after pictures of the axe heads (Your finished pieces look great, btw).
And, puukko, isn't this a finnish workers knife? Are those finnish axe types? (I have absolut no clue on different axes, but I am curious to learn)

Thanks RT1969 for the welcome and taking a look.

Here's a before and after of the Puget Sound double bit;

I remove any deformations, mushrooming on the poll, surface oxidation, handle left in the eye and many times will paint the head and then re-sand leaving the paint in deeper pits.

Welcome and yes, that's some very cool restoration work and modifications. :hatsoff:

I'd love to see one of them with pictures of the full restoration, start to finish. :tu:

Many thanks Mike, Lord of the Spammers!, ducttapetech, Crow the "puukko" in puukko3883 comes from my love of the Finnish belt knife, enki_ck here's one of the above pretty much from start to finish;

Norlund 3.0 lb head and 36" stock single bit handle:

Head Start

Head Finish

in the handle carved grip pattern inspired by South Sea Islander tribal tattoo patterns:

after designing the grip pattern decided to add a French Favorite knob end, the knob end
came before carving the grip pattern:

next a black leather whacker guard with paracord lacing and lanyard with wood and deer antler fobs:

close to the end I came up with a head sheath or bit guard if you prefer:

and that pretty much wrapped it up.
