Mad's 2014 MTO coin ideas
on: April 03, 2014, 04:46:35 AM
Ok, I've had some time to putts around so I threw a few ideas together on my comp and here's what I came up with, any thoughts or ideas are welcome! Let me know what you think!! JR

All have that special tool for opening that ice cold one for the end of the day except #6, that has one plus a seatbelt cut slot..

#3,4, and 6 also have a hole for a keychain ring, 3 and 4 I made it look like it was the hole from the chain on the sak,

2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

WOW!¡! AWESOME!¡! I really like this JR!¡! It's especially cool how you used tools from some of the major manufacturers to spell out MTO as well as the torch and other knives/ MTs/ SAKs. The bottle opener, keyring, seatbelt cutter and hex driver are really cool too. I'm kinda tossed on which design I like of these. Are these all single or double sided? If they're single sided, you can incorporate a combination of designs to make them double sided. Typically a challenge coin is double sided. What about our site motto on one of the sides "making the unworkable work" in Latin (using google translate or a member that knows Latin could help) and MTO on the other. Also, I think that if you did the MultiTool.org logo in red it will pay homage to our "new site owners" >:D  I'm seriously surprised that no one has suggested a Jimmy the Turnip idea yet for a coin :pok:  :P

The strap cutter might be a bit dangerous exposed like that. I think Terry had some experience with strap cutters. ;)

I like the  3./4. design but again something more generic instead of LM, Vic, Wenger, Gerber, ... might be better to avoid copyright infringements.

Those are horrible, and you should feel very bad!

No, wait, the other thing....

I like some of those ideas a lot!  :D

I do worry about the exposed strap cutter though- I love the concept, but in practice I think it might be a bit of a problem.  Long ago I was once fiddling with a Midnight Manager in my pocket while talking to a customer and accidentally sliced open my fingertip.  I remained completely nonchalant to the customer while my pocket filled up with blood.  I'd hate for this to happen to someone else from an MTO coin!   :ahhh

That having been said, I really like the bottle opener integration in the first four designs.

And the MTO spelled out in multitools reminds me of the original concept logo I had:

Looks like you inadvertently added some MTO tradition to your design!

:D

Ok, so the cap lifters in 1-4, and the design in 3 & 4, gotcha. (But generic)  :tu: JR

Had some other ideas and some time so here's what I came up with,, JR

Plain simple
1.

Everything, keychain screwdrivers, pocket knife, pocket tool, flashlight, sak and multitool. The most popular tools on this forum..  And of course lets not forget both have a bottle opener! :D
2.
