Thanks :D
Maybe, but the surge seems to have more room for some reason, maybe because of the angle of the new plier head? I'll try it soon hopefully

Spare Micra knife blade converted into an awl.

Like it very much.  :tu:
Thanks.
It is actually the nail file.

Even better - two birds with one stone.

I may attempt to do this on my spare Micra too. Still usable nail file + an awl, a win-win.

Is there a possibility that the pliers head rubs on the handles ruin the awesome finish?
I know that is the case on my Mini-Surge, but it is not an issue because Mini-Surge is all stainless steel.

Thanks guys!  :D

@ babola, I'm pretty happy with it without an awl, I still like to have the scissors. I think I might sharpen the can opener to use as an awl/ package opener as mentioned in another thread. That seems to be a good idea.

@ kampfer, I'm pretty sure The plier head/ handles will rub off some of the black finish over time as it opens and shuts, the plier head I swapped out had some rub marks, but it's not like deep scratches or anything sinister, just very soft rub marks, it doesn't really bother me as its a user, just adds character!

This Micra is cool, it has scissors, small drivers, tweezers and an awl, which its partner Skuletool lacks. Cap lifter is no more.

Yes it will wear out from use , but it will be nice marks from use (like mine), stating that the tool get the use it deserves

Nice! It does add characteristic.

Glad you like it JA. I feel the Mirca is more useful after I hacked it.

Thanks! Tidied up my pocket-clipped Rebar today too, but can't actually use either of them for another 12 days.

How did you mount a pocket clip?

Not that hard but requires a small hack job. LM Kick pocket clip is a perfect candidate for this althought not sure if hiraetus had used the same or different clip.

See the step-by-step procedure from Zoidberg, here: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,54488.0.html

Happy modding!  ;)

I used a Wingman clip, but it took a lot of work to get it on there.

see here: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,51510.msg951979.html#msg951979 - using a Kick clip is probably easier.

nice. I hope leatherman is taking notes. and preferably offer the option to choose if we want the crimper or not

I hope they take note about the scissors mod (from the Wingman) on the outside of the Wave  :tu: but I personally hope they don't start putting the Rebar pliers head on everything :dwts: ... well at least not without redesigning the main gripping area anyway

I don't mind that at all actually, though I know there are a few people who think it's a waste of space  :D I had some tiny phillips screws to remove from something recently .... can't remember what  ... and was glad I had a tool with this on  :)

I'm with you on that one! ;) I wear glasses, so it's definitely nice to have the precision screwdriver bit just in case, but honestly, it gets far more use on the battery compartments of my kids' toys than anything else.

some people like to remove the small bit driver when modding a tool... I end up modding tools to include it. :D
