But that brings another player in the field. You can keep your Champion and get pliers and bit holder in a Multitool, such as a Wave, Charge or Spirit Plus. How's that?
That's an other religion

The swiss champs can regularly be had for $50 USD brand new on ebay and often amazon as well.  Thats very good value for money.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

Depends on what tools are important to you I guess.  I do use the pliers often so I always carry a SAK with one. jI also use the scale pen quite a bit. On a swiss champ the only tools I have never used are the wood saw and fish scaler, so I would remove those 2 layers from a champ to form the best EDC SAK for me.

+1 on that! It would make a much better sak for my needs too!  More of an "urban" style sak. :)

What a silly question!  Of course you need a Swisschamp!  >:D  I didn't think mine would see much use at all but I was very wrong on that.  Great SAK.  I carry mine often at work, in my pocket attached to a short belt hanger.  Carries well for something so large.  :tu:  And to the scaler haters, it's the perfect improvised fork to steal fries from co-workers......  ;)
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

I was wrong I have 3 not 4 Swisschamps, 2 have grooved corkscrews and those live in SOS sheaths the one with red lanyard is my off day carry tool.  You can see I broke the spring for the pliers I use it so much.

IMO you don't NEED a Swisschamp. That doesn't mean you shouldn't buy one.

I guess i'm  just like the rest of you. I have a Champ, Champion Plus, Cybertool41, original Mini Champs, new Mini Champ lite and Deluxe Tinker. I love the Champ. Also carry a Hercules in my SUV, very handy tool. These are just part of my collection. My most common EDC is a Compact.

Wow! I sure appreciate everyone's response. Looks like I will be picking up a Swiss Champ as soon as funds allow. I suppose I already knew the answer, but needed a bit of  reassurance.
 :sak:
The Cybertool 41 looks like an awesome tool, but I really don't need a tool that requires special (and rather limited selection) of bits. I think the Swiss Champ fits me better. I do have a number of plier- based tools, but I've found I don't need pliers on a daily basis.
I do carry either my Diesel or Super Tool 300 at work without fail.

They're not Farmers though are they!

I am excited because I think (fingers crossed) I have managed to obtain a Swisschamp in a swap. I can't wait - my collection (6 with the Swisschamp) will be complete...........

While I too wish the CT41 had more bits available, I overlook the limitation since it gives me the basic bits I will likely need: flats and Phillips variations. It's still more capable as is, than a Swiss Champ, IMO. I find it to be the perfect SAK.

That said, I did just buy a red scaled Swiss Champ because while I prefer the CT41, I do like the SC.

I'd say- yes you should have one!

I use to EDC a Huntsman which was great, until I was given an Explorer which I EDC'd for a year and loved................except it doesn't have a woodsaw.

I've just received a Swisschamp that I will EDC as it has everything I want on a SAK.

Eventually I may mod it to become a Woodsman (Explorer with a saw) but not until I've carried the SC around a bit.

Here's mine;

When I first read this thread I wasn't sure I didn't need a Swiss Champ. But the fish scaler, a favourite if slightly pointless tool, drew me in and I decided to get one in black, then red and then I made the mistake of visiting the flagship store in London. The red jelly scaled Champ just winked at me ... and I still don't know if I need one. But I'm comfortable with that uncertainty now :)

That red jelly scale is the best. Pity that my Swisschamp is engraved, otherwise I would use that scale. But I will engrave this too someday.

I'm very undecided about needing a blue jelly Champ but I'm quite prepared to put myself in temptations way just to see if I don't need one either ...
