It's a Lottery. I have 4, maybe 5 of them and they all have different tints, from almost white to eye hurting blurple. And the bad part is that the worst one is the one I got last. But then again, you'll notice this only if you're hunting white walls, not in real use. I think there was a trick some time ago with rubbing the reflector/LED bulb with 0000 steel wool to get an even, whiter beam but am not sure how that worked exactly. Never tried it.
With my E01, the tint never bothered me. I guess i'm not very picky in that subject, as long as i can see with it, it's all good. The E05 had no tint as far as i can tell, and the flood light is very nice, much superior to the E01 in that regard, being 3 times stronger and all, plus the plastic diffuser thingy, but falls back on battery life.
OK, I've ordered one. Always like the look of the olive green version so that's what I've gone for.
All mine are purple, but like the others I never really noticed it in use The new ones are a tad more powerful with a shorter runtime so that may affect your decision to buy one mate. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
