  • I may get older but I refuse to grow up.
I don't think too many as they get assembled per hand and I don't believe they sold a large quantity of them due to the price.

Maybe a couple hundred at best.

Hi Jack

I asked the same question a few months back. Like you I too own a Giant, well 2 actually

I did some research and although I don't have a link, I'm almost certain the chap who assembled Giants at Wenger quickly became very proficient. Don't quote me but I'm certain he was able to assemble a few each day.
I'll have a search and see if I can find the link.
How many in circulation??
I would guess in multiples of 1000 at least.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Nick, I already added the link that I posted in your thread also.

Just for reference though, here's your thread --> How many Giants??

Cheers enki  :tu:

So 8 per day, theoretically that's 2080 per year.
Which, I have to say isn't very many.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

oh man, can be that much already made?

more it made , that market value will lower too. ~

I heard the Wenger brand knife was stop manufacture since 2013/01.

So, I try to collect some of the Wenger knife I like the most.

from the Giant knife I get, it does have 4 blade out of the body.
2 at front and 2 at back.
That's why the Giant knife will cut people easily.

Hi Jack,

Welcome aboard!

My opinion, for what its worth...

The man who assembled the Giants may have been able to make eight a day, but I doubt he worked at that one job full time. My own guess, given their high price, is less than 1,000 total were made. Enci knows of a half-dozen among the several dozen hard-core collectors here. Given that the members of this forum represent a sizable part of the SAK collecting community, and that about the only other likely buyers would be knife shops looking for a rather unique (and expensive) advertising attraction, I don't think the total number made was very high. The problem with the Giant as a collectable is the same as the cause of its rarity; its a very expensive item that most people can't afford.

Basically, someone here with contacts at Wenger should ask if the company has any numbers (actual or approximate) on the total produced.

I wouldn't worry too much.
I'd hazard a guess there are probably at least a couple of thousand in circulation. Which sounds a lot but remember there are no more except what's left on the dealers shelves.
Soon the next generation of SAK fanatics will come along and a later a further generation and so on and so on......each generation is picking up where the last left off and all the time the prices are rising steadily.
I did consider (and may still do) buying another brand new Giant and leaving it sealed. Now there would be a seriously collectible knife in years to come. Imagine that in 25yrs  A sealed BNIB Wenger Giant Knife.........with receipt!!!.

It would send collectors around the world crazy

The fact that Wenger was Swiss, that it was in production or 125yrs, that it was victorinox only serious competitor will ensure that knives made by Wenger will get more than just a second look. I think you've spent wisely my friend  :tu: - just don't edc it  ;)

Thank you for the photo.
The dealer of WENGER in Russia told me there was a big order (30-50 knifes of Giant) few years ago. Gifts for a top of managers of Gazprom (the monopolist on gas production in Russia)

Interesting detail, Gim. :hatsoff: I kind of doubt that one of those guys would trade his or sell it cheap on the internet. :D
