Swiss Tool X
on: April 19, 2014, 02:59:21 AM
Hey, I have access to a New Old Stock Swiss Tool X, the guy wants $90 for it, is this a good deal? I've never handled one so I'm asking the experts, are Swiss Tools any good?

Some people here seem to like them. The question for you is do you want a big heavy tool? If so, it should suit you just fine. If not, buy a Rebar. :salute:

We'll I've already got a Super Tool 300. So those Swiss Tools are pretty big then are they?

If you like the ST300 then you will probably like the SwissTool X.

Yes they are. St 300 and the Swisstool are pretty close.

They are close size wise, but not fit and finish wise.  It's next to impossible to beat the SwissTools for quality though.

Without knowing about Oz. prices , I'd say Swisstool , very useful and high quality tool load out . Vic tools are in a class of their own for build quality .

All I can say is that the Swisstool is about the only tool that gave me that "special feeling" when I held it in my hands for the first time, the same feeling that I had when I got my very first multitool (my '94 Supertool) 20 years ago ...

And it's quite strange, because I know that a Spirit offers the same (and maybe even better) tool loadout in a smaller package, still the Swisstool seems to get more time on the belt .

Anyway, here are some pics of the Swisstool vs the ST300, so you have an idea what they look like side by side.

And now some random pics ...

Thanks for the comparison pics @Top Gear 24, I didn't realize the ST300 was that much bigger than the SwissTool!  :o

Depends, how much is the shipping cost and how easily available are these for you. I just got a Spirit X NIB for 55 $ shipped and just afterwards I saw another Spirit X NIB for 50 $ locally. Maybe stalk the forums and local auction sites a bit, before shelling out the cash.

I think I also saw Swisstools similarly priced, but I didn’t care enough to pay mind to them.

Yeah this in on a local auction/ trading site. It's definitely the cheapest I have seen, I'm thinking $60 sounds good to me. Will just wait and see, it's not like I'm actually in the market for a swiss tool right now anyway, it just came up as a related item.

I'm really trying to get my hands on a bunch of Alox SAKs.

I used to own one and I sold it off because I didn't care for the scissors. I'm afraid there's no convincing me on this one
