Greetings and ID help needed
on: April 20, 2014, 01:17:25 PM
Hi all,

I'm from Poland. I do live in Warsaw. My hobby is vintage straight razors restoring and collecting.

Some specimen of my collection you can see here:

http://brzytwa.org/forum/index.php?topic=296.300

Some days ago I bought a lot of old str8's and an odd multitool (as a bonus :D).

The problem is I have no idea what is it and what purpose it is for.

Could anyone help me, please.

Best regards

Welcome to the forum, vaga. :waving:

As for the tool, I'm not sure but probably a hoof knife/cleaning tool for horses. Is the second blade layer broken off? Something seems to be missing.

Thank you.

You're absolutely right. Another blade is missing. There is only a stub left.

the long "scoop" blade looks like a cheese plug knife used for testing cheeses..

(Image removed from quote.)

If it's a hoof cleaning tool then it probably isn't a cheese tool, although that kind of thing is also used for sampling grain, rice and other powdered substances.  That makes more sense as a farm oriented tool.

I think it's a tool for your smoking pipe. The long thing to clean, and the short one to fill the tabacco…

Yea, that doesn't look like standard hoof tools.  The scoopy thing is too fragile for hoof cleaning.  The loop (for lack of a better word ) has no modern horse tool equivalent.  I like the idea of a cheese plugging tool, but still don't understand what the loop is for... ???

Maybe a candle tool?  The loop thingy being a snuffer.
