Leatherman REV - new tool patented
on: April 24, 2014, 01:07:45 PM
And it seems we will be seeing something new next year from Leatherman. It's gonna be one for the plier people.

By the specs, I'd say it's gonna be a small to mid sized tool, not a lot of tools so probably more pocketable, maybe the size of a PST. I'm guesstimating again, could be way off. :D

It seems like a Wingman/Sidekick replacement.

just what i was about to say

A slightly upgraded Wingman/Sidekick would be nice to see.

At least it sounds potentially more interesting than another lame extreme sports type one piece tool ::)  I thought that's what it was going to be based on the name alone before reading the info.

If it has the packahe opener im not getting to excited about it. I know thats crazy logic but to me it just represents lower end tools.  :(

Sounds like it might possibly be for car guys from the name. I doubt it though.

Two things jump out at me.  First, "any combination" could mean multiple models, or it could mean a configurable tool (I wish), or it could just be legalese.

Second, notice what tools are omitted from the list.  Scissors.  Saw.  Awl.

The Wingman/Sidekick were the first ones I thought of too, but they are too new to be replaced already.

So far the "any combination" meant that all of them were included in the end tool. The lack of tools makes me think it might be something slimmer, and smaller.

It's that combination that makes me think it's going to at least be big enough to carry one of LMs standard 'lobster claw' can openers.

You know I missed that not being plural, but now that you mention it that is a bit concerning.

Could one screwdriver mean a bit driver? Or do they specify usually? I'm looking forward to anything new that is aimed at the general market!

Same website says "Bit driver with bits" while describing the Skeletool. Make of that what you will.

DISAPPOINTMENT ALERT! Lol

http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Leatherman-Rev-Multi-Tool&i=853595

If this is actually it, it looks like a Wingman variant minus the secondary outside access tool. Knife is apparently non-OHO?

Doesn't look like the same plier head, so they may not be sprung either.

I was thinking the same thing Hig - the product description doesn't mention spring loaded pliers, either

Its a neutered Wingman.

Why the smurf would they take away one of the outside accessible tools?  Oh Leatherman you live to displease don't you.

Please oh please get your head out of your smurf. Seriously it's getting old real quick. You do know their are other companies that make multitools right?   :twak:

Unless this thing sells for $10 its a complete bust in my opinion. I know I am making a assumption very hastily without ever handling one, but come on....... Really!

I am a bit puzzled on where this fits in the Leatherman family.

I thought the Wingman and Sidekick had it all sewn up...why bring out another like tool? Is this a Gander Mountain exclusive?

That appears to be an unintentional new product leak...I could imagine LM reaction once they find about this.  8)

So Leatherman will be releasing a crippled budget version of their budget tool...nice.  :td:

It looks like its probably smaller than the Sidekick/Wingman. More pocketable option maybe?

Just an idea, any chance this tool could be like their christmas special? The made the Croc, which is a dumbed down piranha for the holidays, maybe this is supposed to be their low priced holiday option for the year?
