Got a small button stuck in seat belt locking mechanism, so that my seat belt couldn't get locked properly...

Made a small "open heart" operation  :multi:

Used Atwood prybaby Ti (thanks Mr. Whippy  :D ) to pry plastic from locking mechanism open...

Then used a Quantum D2 to take a peak inside  :D

At the end used Brewzer (it has narrower point than Prybaby) to pull mechanism half way down and LM P4 to pull out the button...

I love Fridays...

Just because they come right before weekend, and because sometimes I can get out of job earlier (like today ;)) but mostly because Serbian POst decided that Fridays are the best days for delivering international packages...

Wooohooooooo!!! Entire weekend to enjoy in new gear!!  :mail: :mail: :mail:

Some nice weather came at last (after all this days of rain...). Watching outcome of floods that hitted central parts of Serbia...  :(

Went this morning to buy some baby food and brought to Red Cross office to be distributed to ones in need...

So my idea of preparedness was a multitool, a knife and light + some other trinkets...

But after recent situation development here (floods, last winter storm etc.) I started thinking about Get Home Bag and Bug Out Bag. I have watched all those poor people walking away from home while evacuating and carry almost nothing.

I work some 50km away from home, and live besides river... So I decided to build a GHB and BOB for our use, and decided to make it step by step...

At the moment I'm not exactly clear weather I will make both, or I will create one to go with me in car everywhere. I'm aware of the fact that they are essentially for different use, but on the other hand they have a lot in common... They supposed to save your sorry @ss WSHTF!!

So I started with this:

I picked old 17" laptop backpack I don't use anymore...

And threw inside this for now

A Dupont full protective suit and mask while I work in waste management company and I am located on LandFill site + regular gloves rubber one side textile on the other.

Besides this I have packed a raincoat made out of rubberized material that should keep me dry at all weather + it can be used as shelter.

This should be written as I go and add things (or throw them out) made as an exercise and for real life situations as mentioned above, so don't go immediately with "Where is FAK? Where is knife? Where is survival kit?" stuff while I need to reconsider my real situation and possible threats!

I'll keep it coming...

(Maybe I should make separate thread on this)

Yeah, I live between TWO rivers so a danger of floodding is always an option. We had some minor ones in the last years, nothig as big as the current ones but it got me thinking quite a bit. My house was built wiht floods in mind actually, the "ground floor" is actually about 1,5 meters raised from the ground. I have something along the lines of a GHB in my car, I posted it in the Winter car kits thread a while back. There are some good ideas there so maybe you'll find some inspiration for your bag.

Beautiful children Goj. Happy, healthy and thriving with mom and dad, you're doing a great job. Tell your daughter that Uncle Stew wants a copy of the giant happy face she drew with the heart just above it. I would proudly hang it in my office and tell everyone where it came from. If you can get me a copy of it, I'll pay the shipping.

Nice tool loadout also. Very practical and well thought out. Our extended PM conversations about all sorts of topics make more sense to me now. It's clear what's important to you, wish everyone was that way then there wouldn't be a need for me.

Best to all,
Stew...
