Home made sheath for SwissChamp SAK
on: May 13, 2014, 12:56:41 AM
Hi,

Just wanted to share 3 pics of the leather sheath I made some 10 years ago to carry my swisschamp SAK ( on my 2nd one- the 1st one I retired it a year ago, after carrying it daily for 19 years until I wore down the scissors and small blade - now factory repaired). The flashlight carrier was added two years ago (that is why its ostrich-embossed top leather looks newer than that on the flap of the knife sheath).
I also been carrying a magnifying glass in my 5th pocket when I carry other SAKs without it. Anybody >40 years of age will agree that mag glasses are a must as part of EDC gear

Nice little setup, I've done a couple pieces of leather work myself, nothing really to brag about, but it's nice to have something exactly what you want rather then just something with extras or won't even carry everything you want,, anyway, nice job and welcome to the forum! JR

That's a great setup and it must be great quality to last 10 years!

I agree about the mag - at 46 my eyesight is changing fast - very frustrating - My Tom Sawyer mod has a mag glass and I keep a Fresnel lens in my wallet.

Thanks!

I have tried carrying my SAKs in my jean pockets, but I have never liked it. I have always carried them in sheaths. I have made and worn several of them over the years. Here is another one that I stamped with the traditional basket weave pattern (common in leather gear carried by cops years ago). The SAK in this sheath has stainless steel carved scales. I am going to share pics of this knife in the Swiss Forum.

Great looking sheaths, hope my self made sheaths hold up to that many years of carry.

That reminds me, I have to take some pics and share my newest one. :D
