Prototype piggyback RAT-3 and Vic Spirit
on: May 23, 2014, 04:51:54 AM
I've been wanting to do this little prototype combination ever since I started working with kydex back around march. With school done and work cut back I finally got around to knocking this out today. I call it  the "Dumpster diver" as I do a lot of that around here. Legalities of carrying a sheath knife aside in certain areas this thing is so comfortable I forget I'm carrying the RAT-3 on it.  I plan on doing more Piggy back combinations like this in the future. Some will carry a spare mag for a CCW some will just carry tools like the Victorinox Spirit shown pictured

The belt is threaded between the two tools, its pretty much like 2 sheaths riveted together at the top and bottom. Pretty neat little set up if you ask me. Not original in the slightest though.

Interesting idea there, I was wondering why not tilt the RAT a bit it seems a bit high riding . Does it jab you at all?

Nope, its actually riding so that the tip is just a little below where the spirit is. Any lower and it would hit the seat when I sit down (I have no ass). It tilts inboard into my body enough to actually do a good job of staying hidden. I did think about tilting it forward or back but I wasn't happy with the mocked up version and concealment. Since I CCW and I might pair carry this I want everything to stay inline with my body when I'm standing/walking.

It definitely looks to be very well hidden once your shirt is over it.  I love the blade btw and what a great combo with the Spirit.  I like the idea of the piggy back thanks for sharing this.

 :tu:  Good work, wonderwolf.

Since you are dumpster diving, check out Unger Nifty Nabber long arm grabbers.  They are sold in different lengths and are pretty useful, as this guy demonstrates
