Here's a hand axe I've been using this spring.
It has a vintage Buhl head and cut down 22 inch
haft,

some finishing touches,

hung the head using crossed wood wedges,

Thanks for taking a look, if you would like to comment please do.

Lovely work Puukko  :salute:

You have a lot more patience than I have, I just throw a drop of linseed oil at them
Everything’s adjustable

Thanks for taking a look JAfromMn, it's a hand axe so there's
mostly one hand use, the entire length of the haft is grip
depending on the stroke of the cut and when two hands
are used they're stationary at the knob end.

So the carved grape vine design assists gripping when
using leather work gloves.

The leather guard bellow the blade is a great idea puukko3883.

next time I give my hawk some TLC I will do something similar.

I think I'll use sheet metal though .

keep up the good work and keep us posted. :)

That is truly the definition of "functional art". Very well done Sir, I'm envious of such creative ability. If I want something as nice as that I just have to buy it. I'm ashamed to admit that I was not blessed with the gene that you and so many others here have. The gene that allows for creations such as yours.

By all means  scattergun13 !!

I've really been into hand axes of late, for me a very
useful axe size.  I use 4 lb+ head splitters quit a bit
but I haven't made one up in a while.

You may, in the future, be receiving a fat pay-pal deposit from me. I NEED to own one of those. I'll PM you sometime and maybe we can work out details. Again, nice work.
