Juice SX.
on: June 11, 2014, 02:22:49 AM
With some difficulty, I was able to find a new Juice SX from a US retailer. However, I continued to look for the older version which, to me at least, was discontinued in record time. I was super excited with the above find, as they were using the older photo, thus I thought I was going to score the old and possibly rare Juice SX. It was the newer version. With that said, a good friend from the UK was able to find me the older version, as I couldn't find one on this side of the Atlantic. So now I have both of them.

<---doing the happy dance!  :D

I would love to know the production numbers behind a lot of Leatheman's specialty focused tools. I do know a few of their pocket tools prior to their selling to the American public from their main web site, were sold only in certain exclusive shops related to the tool's activity focus, making them a bit hard to find  through regular channels...not that there is such for a Canadian who collects Leatherman these days.

Glad you finally got the "old" one. :tu: Yes, that must have been the shortest production of a multi ever. 2-3 months and it was gone and replaced with the new version.

Besides looks, what is the difference between the old and the new model? IIRC, they're pretty much identical, so I don't understand why they'd change the design.

Shorter blade to make it flight friendly, and the pull tabs on the screwdrivers got changed a bit to make them easier to pull out.

I thought all knife-blades, regardless of length, was illegal on commercial flights?
Just checked on LM's site and they've shortened the blade by a whopping 8,3 mm.

Yep, I couldn't line one up while those months ticked away, and before I knew it, they came out with the newer version, which is also a PITA to get if your outside the United States...well impossible to get in Canada anyhow. :D
