Fenix LD02
on: June 24, 2014, 01:52:47 PM
I recently saw this for sale in a webstore, I must say it got me a bit excited, seem flashlight manufacturers finally are listening to my thoughts :P

- AAA battery
- 100, 25 or 8 lumen
- tailswitch :)

http://www.fenixlighting.com/products/fenix-ld02-led-flashlight.aspx

And it doesn´t seem all too expensive either  :tu:

Anyone else saw these, or even have one and would like to share? :D

Looks like a forward clicky too. :woohoo:

What price will it be going for?

Found it here (in the Netherlands) for €30,-:

Which is actually less than the LD01 was going for on the same website, so seems really reasonable :tu:

That is nice! I gave LD01's as Christmas gifts last year but I may have to get the LD02 for myself.
I carry an LD12 but I like the rear clicky idea on a smaller light.

I've already seen them on eBay, but I think I'll wait for them to get cheaper... though I was also all over them when I first saw them, 1xAAA & clicky :D

Nice.  I'll have to keep an eye out for one; it might make it into my EDC rotation instead of the AFS P.  I'm guessing the tail switch selects the brightness level?

Yep, if I can believe the video Enki posted, "half-clicks" change the modes.

Now that I examine their catalog, the FD02 is just an E12 that's been put through the shrinking machine and (in REI's catalog) costs $12 more.  I'd rather have the cheaper, larger, brighter, longer lasting light.  EXCEPT NO FRIGGIN POCKET CLIP.

Cheers parnass.  I really do quite like the look of this light, though it is perhaps not quite perfect either.  As I just said in another thread I am odd and like the M-L-H sequence Fenix have used on this light, but I'm not so keen on the fact that this light doesn't seem to be easy to use as a keyring light and that the pocket clip is getting some poor feedback.

The Low; should it be lower or not?  I really don't know.  I see good arguments for a Low that is bright enough to move around with, but offers long run times (such as this has).  Yet I also get why folks want a super Low that is very inconspicuous.  Perhaps an argument for four levels? :D

Probably, it's just really quite new and other stores don't have it in stock yet ;)

Received and tested, very nice light, but a bit too big for my EDC, it is going in my pack.
Have to get a LD02 some time.

I picked up an LD02 last week at a local retailer.

I quite like it. Has the right features for my needs, is small and fits in my MT sheath for daily carry.

We'll see how it holds up in the long run as I've barely had it a week. If it is anything like the Fenix it replaced, then it should be up to the task (I only replaced my previous light as this one had better features in the smaller AAA size).

As to the pocket clip issue, it is a little loose/flimsy compared to other clips. I would not count on it in my pocket, but since it is held in the side pouch of my MT sheath, the clip isn't really needed.

Solved my pocket clip issue.

After I posted my comment above, I turned away from my computer to see my old LM Monarch 300 sitting on the counter. On a whim, I tried the pocket clip and it works great. Really solid retention and it rides closer to the flashlight body as well.

I liked it but I didn't use it much, don't need a light such size on normal days, its stay in my tact vest.
