That was odd. I first thought the blade was awfully dull and like the Captain I also have a few razor blades in my FAK as well. I was also thinking, it didn't hurt? Odd and very neat.

It doesn't really have to be, as it is bleeding and puss is coming out. Also the girl commenting probably made him clean the blade, after all she seems to be on the level. At any rate its more important to keep it clean afterwards.

Pertaining to it hurting. If you have ever had something like this once the skin is stretched out for a extended period of time like that you tend to lose feeling in that part of the skin so the person probably didn't even feel the cut. Just the pressure of it releasing everything.

My first thought was that that blade needs sharpening!
I think a fresh vic 58mm blade yould have made a much better job of that cut.

A Vic Warncliff 58mm is all you need. Easy to sterilize with a Bic lighter and sharp as a scalpel.
But cysts should be treated by a specialized surgeon. Do that only if you are a castaway and it is impossible to find a castaway physician around.
