[CLOSED]EDC Giveaway
on: July 17, 2014, 04:09:43 PM
Here we go again, -another- giveaway, are you tired of it, yet?

Of course you're not! So, here's more!

I know everyone around here is into more than just multitools, the whole "EDC" mentality grows strong in these neck of the woods. So, instead of giving away "just" one tool, I'm giving away a bit more: a whole EDC "package".

Now, these aren't brand new, so some usages scratches may be on there, but that doesn't make them any less useful.

Now I'm sure you all know the tools, so I'll just list them, I'll post some pics in the next post as they'll come from my phone.

The package includes:

- An original Leatherman PST, the Adam that started the plier-based multitool market. It has a NiteIze Eclipse pocket clip pasted to the side, which can be removed if unwanted.
- A Victorinox Standard, the predecessor of the very well known Spartan. This Eve to the Adam mentioned before can be called the "base model" SAK. It has solid red cellidor scales with "Pimco" advertising, inlaid just like the shield.
- You may have spotted a lack of scissors, so far. So did I ;) . So included is also a pair of True Utility Scixors.
- And, last but not least, an EDC setup is never complete without a flashlight, so included will be also a Fenix E11 flashlight (the first version).

So, that's it. ;) Now, what will you have to do to participate?

1. Have more than 10 posts
2. Be 18 years or older
3. Be in a place where having and receiving the prize is legal

And, the most important one:

Show a picture of your current EDC (even if it's not much yet), or, if that's impossible, tell us, but at least show us some of your thoughts behind the EDC you're actually carrying.

No need for lists, before the draw I'll make a list myself based on post numbers. Everyone gets only 1 entry, I only count the first post of each person.

This giveaway will end somewhere on Friday the 25th of July.

Also, most important: HAVE FUN!  :D

What a great idea.  Thank you for your generosity and a well thought giveaway.  This looks like a great way to upgrade an existing EDC for a lot of members.  Good luck everyone I'll site this one out.

Cool and generous giveaway Tom :tu:  Thanks for the chance :salute:

My lineup definitely changes up frequently, but one item has become fairly constant (as some of you have probably noticed by now), and that is my Rogueneer.  Heck, if I remember correctly Tom, you inspired the name with your suggestion ;)  Anyway, my carry is normally the Rogueneer, paired with a multitool of choice at this point.  My rotational schedule has been shot at this point.  I just carry whatever MT I feel like, which is usually a choice between the following:  ReCharge TTi, BORebar, OG-Wave, OG-Supertool, or Spirit.

Great GAW Tom!!  Giving away a whole package is a great idea, and this is a pretty sweet package!  :tu:  I'm going to sit this one out as I have two PST's already (though I do like your clip mod), so I think it's only fair for me to give others a better chance at this.

Wow! Just... Wow! Thanks, count me in. I don't have pics of my EDC, but here goes a description:

Fixed:
Leatherman Style PS
Led Lenser K1
Gerber Artifact
S&W MP Tactical pen
A6 notepad

Rotating:
SAKs (Climber, Sportsman, Bantam)
Kershaw Scalion
Sanrenmu 763
Spyderco Persistence
Colt (Canoe, Double Lockback, Sowbelly)

I'll try to get some pics to show the lot. There's also the house keys, watch, phone but I don't count that as EDC, they're a must have.
 :salute:

(edit: I see this, no entries. Start to write, click post and receive a "4 messages posted"...)

Key chain EDC:

Bought the Gerber Artifact because I broke the tip of a folder by prying, wanted a little prybar/nail puller. Once I got it I realized the craft knife blade was good for much of the cutting I do.

Normal at work/casual EDC for years was Multitool plus "better knife" and a flashlight. Recently bought the crosscut to supplement tiny MT scissors, and got entertained by the idea of a minimal or keychain based EDC. SO my keys became my EDC writ small - a "knife" (artifact) multitool (crosscut) and light (photon microlight.)

Full size EDC, and it's evolution:

Since age 8 I carried a small SAK.
Switched to a Leatherman when they first came out.
Missed the tweezers from the SAK, so I stuck some in the Leatherman sheath.
Because it was fiddly to open pliers to access a knife blade, I added a OHO folder for quick access.
Ditched the OHO folder when the Wave came out, with the OHO blades.
Got a new SAK when I realized they had OHO features now, and I realized that I missed the corkscrew and sometimes needed to use a flat head screwdriver and pliers at the same time.
Kept the full size tweezers anyway: they are better.
SAK rides next to lighter in the change pocket of my jeans, it has a corkscrew which comes in handy, and comes out quicker.

Sheath holds bit extender, with a few turns of electrical tape around it to hold it in place, and because sometimes it's nice to have tape, and big tweezers.

Flashlight because everything I fix or work on is either in a cabinet or crawlspace or attic, or breaks at night. Fits in left thigh pocket of jeans. Stays home if I dress up.

Realize now that I carry way to much stuff, and I feel silly. Who needs 3 tweezers, 2 scissors, two can openers, 3 bottle openers? Really need to pair it down, but each item has something in it I would miss, along with the too-redundant features. 80% of the time, I more than get by with the lighter and keychain tools. But the other 20% I'm glad to have some combination of the bigger stuff.

Lately have come to realize that good scissors often beat knives for some cutting tasks.

Even though I really want a fullsized Leatherman, I'm gonna sit this one out; an original PST deserves more appreciation and use than I think I'll ever give it. But really great idea, giving away a "complete" EDC kit. Does an EDC kit ever become complete?...

Hello,
Thank you for the giveaway!!!!

Because I work in hospital, I carry Micra on my keychain. God knows how many times this tool has come in handy. I have cut catheters from pizza slices to nails. Such an amazing tool. Been carrying for 3+ yrs. Still going strong.

Unfortunately, I lent this to a friend to open bottles during a party and I forgot to get it back. So no pics right now until I get it back. I know I took the pic while cutting pizza long time ago but it was on my old phone :grrr

This is great but we all win from the experience of others   :tu:

I currently carry my "Librarian" Custom SAK or at least my LM Squirt PS4. I also now have a LM #4 that lives on the key chain.

My wallet also has some band-aids and a couple strips of duct tape (on a thin piece of non stick paper). What I really need in my wallet is more emergency cash!

Hi, and thanks for the chance to win.
I am usually a bit of a lightweight, carrying one of these wengers. On my keyring is usually a micra, a Utili-Key, and an eGear micro flashlight. I carry 2 of the last 3 items on a cable keychain in "cocoons", like this:

This is missing my work phone and the other items I carry in my backpack daily. This is strictly inpocket items.

The Squirt P4, Style CS, Craftsman 4 way and the Executive Edge pen knife are my daily constant companions.
