I will not be entering this giveaway, since I'm not much of an axe collector, and I think others here will appreciate such a great looking piece of art more than me.

But I will post a pic of my "camping axe" (the only axe I own and use).  I only have one pic of it, and that's the one you can see here, I was taking pics of my Opinel Outdoor and thought it would look nice if I placed my Fiskar X7 alongside on the pic.

Just to be clear: I do not want to participate in this giveaway, I just want to post a pic of my axe. ;)

Good luck guys, and a big thank you to Gingrich Tactical for their generosity  :salute:.

Those fiskars axes are great users. :tu:
No need to oil the handle, or worry about water/moisture, and come real sharp right of the shelf.

totally agree, Grathr. :tu: I have a Fiskars axe that I use at home, and it seems to be indestructible. even when the factory edge dulls with use, getting it back to a nice sharp edge is a relatively quick process.

How is the balance?

They are a bit pricey round here so I've not really looked at them but if you guys recommend it...

I also like the look of 50ft's Gransfors Bruks Hatchet. Anyone here with both or similar want to compare the two?

Actually yes  :D .... well no, not really  :-\ .... well kind of  ....

Farmman has one of the Fiskars ones (not sure if it's branded Fiskars or Gerber ... or which size it is but looks very similar), and I have compared that to the Granny B a few times.

The Fiskars one splits very well indeed whereas the GB can bind a little, but I prefer the Granny B for crosscutting andcampcraft such as making stakes for shelters and such. I also feel the GB would be better suited for extended use - less fatigue. That said the Fiskars that Mark has is a surprisingly good little axe, and I wouldn't begrudge anyone wanting to go for one of those

Not and entry ... that would be a bit suspicious, right. :P But here are a few of mine.

A Fiskars branded one (Same as the Gerber X7 I think but without the rubberized grip), a Stihl special issue (found out later it is actually made by Ochsenkopf) and an old construction axe.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably buy depending on my budget at the time as usual.

I consider myself lucky that in the three and a half years I've been a member, I've only ended up with one axe so far.  My Estwing Sportsman's Axe is all I really need at the moment.  Or is it?   Either way, Sparky's already gotten the blame for this one.....  :)

Dang missed this one.  I have a new user axe as of about a month ago that got alot of workouts over the summer so far.  Estwing riggers axe.  Its been awesome for everything Ive thrown at it, and also its a good thrower.  :D I like the hammer head on back, gets alot of use for well hitting things, and I seem to knock apart 2x4s and framing alot.  :D I'll get a pic of it tomorrow.

My Douglas Carpenter's Ax. A constant companion on camping trips and hunts for nearly 35 years. It helped build my house and it's still, as my Dad says, "tying every bundle". Pictured with my Trail Guide.

Looking good, what are they? Is the wrap to protect the handle or for choking up?

My favourite, i designed/made it a bunch of years ago as nothing that way was available.

Lathed and milled from V4A (old name, now 1.4401 or X5CrNiMo17-12-2, i believe in ASTM/AISI terms it´s called 316) - it´s a display piece, not for heavy wood chopping.

But it´s ok for zombiecutting.  :tu:
