on: July 19, 2014, 10:03:19 AM
But, I have a Supertool 300. I'm not a collector, I use the m'ts I have, but I keep going back to the Rebar. Should I or not?

Your help please? :tu:

This is really the wrong place to ask that, if you want to save your money

But, though I don't have the ST300, I think you should get a Rebar. It's much lighter, and more compact, with a very good tool density  :tu:

I don't own an ST300 but my brother does, and I'd taken some photos of it next to my Rebar for comparison.

Maybe this'll give you a bit of an idea of the difference between them. The size difference is huge, but don't be fooled by the Rebar's smaller size... it's a tough tool for sure.

Everyone should have a Rebar, they're great.

Personally I much prefer the more compact size of the Rebar. :)

What is it about the Rebar that makes you want one ?

Have you read JAfromMN's long term test on the two? I think you'd find his conclusions interesting :pok:

I prefer the size of the Rebar, but in the few weeks I owned one, I wasn't happy with the strength of the blades, or the cutters impeding on the gripping area. The ST300 seems the better tool, though it is a little "legs akimbo" in as much as the handles are splayed a little too far when the jaws are closed and a little cumbersome in my modest sized hands. As such I don't use either tool, but if forced to choose one of the two, it would probably be the ST300

Nothing wrong with a smaller version of the tool that you currently use.  I had a Wave to start for work then got a Surge and I couldn't be happier.  I like the Surge for work now and the Wave sees off day or around the house use.

I have both, and they both have a place,  I love the ST300,  but feel prepared for normal surprise tasks with the Rebar.

I would get one if I were you
If I can help, let me know

Forgot to give my opinion on the ST300 vs Rebar question  ::).

I also own both, and when choosing between the two of them, I find myself picking the ST300 about 90% of the time for EDC.  I really like the Rebar, but the ST300 just feels like it's "indestructible", a feeling I don't have with the Rebar ...

And as mentioned before, the length of the tools are also one of the reasons why I pick the ST300 most of the time.

I bought a Rebar from new,but gifted it out after about two months. Wasn't that I didn't like it,just that it didn't meet my needs!

Saying that,it's lived a very busy life with its new owner :tu:

You should try one and if you decide you dont like it or it doesnt fit your needs, then you can always gift it or sell it off.  They are pretty inexpensive so you wont have much of an investment!  :)
