Since Mr. Blunt lacks a wood saw and a metal saw, I would go with a Ranger.

I'm just getting my gear ready for tomorrow.

Mr Blunt will be living in a skinith shield with a Leatherman Es4 , pocket wrench 2, Chapman ratchet,  some 1/4 bits and extension.

I'LL also be pocket carrying a sak to try make up for Mr Blunt's lack of tools .

well I guess we will see how he works tomorrow.

 :multi:

Just checking, but you know the bit adopter for the Rebar fits the Gerber Phillips like a glove?

I think it was Powernoodle who refereed to it as the AK47 of Multitools.

Yeah, but I stole that descriptor from some other poor sucker on MTO - I don't remember who.  But for those of you who have played with an AK47, you know its a fitting description.  The AK47 and the Gerber both are wiggly and jiggly and rattly, and neither excels at design excellence or precision engineering.   The AK47 is made to be easily manufactured, and highly reliable under adverse conditions.  But what they lack in design elegance, they make up for in battle-tested toughness.  I hope that's what we see here with Mr. Blunt.

For me, the lack of a wood/pvc/metal saw may be the primary downside.  I don't dig the wharncliff style blade, but that's not a deal breaker.  I am looking forward to seeing how this one works out.

yep, pretty much that. I gotta admit that I find the one hand opening feature interesting but not enough to be converted. what I want to see is the performance of other implements

We'll let you take the blame for it Kirky.  It's actually a pretty accurate comparison IMO.

Well Mr Blunt had a easy day at work today.  He unscrewed a few Phillips head screws and I used his pliers to unscrew a striped out torxs head screw. I was removing the siding from a home we are going to move.

I've also  been messing around with him in the shop to see how his wire cutters work. They are smaller than the leatherman cutters I'm used to but seem to cut everything I've tried so far ok. I've had to use a couple cuts on some stuff but I think that's more my fault than the cutters.

Over all I'm happy with him
He's just going to take some getting used to.

That's great news about the wire cutters, just don't cut anything too hard with them or they'll shatter.  The Phillips great too - similar (but shorter) to LM's.

This morning I've been drilling anchors in to the ground to secure a mobile home.

I had to cut a few wires that were in the way

Telephone wire was cut easy

there was some solid core wire that also needed cutting.  It was very hard wire . I had to use two hands to cut it

The anchor dill Had a few lose nuts that needed tightening.

I also used the plane edge blade to remove some extra ground cover plastic that was in the way so it didn't get wrapped up in a auger .

Mr Blunt seems to be working out good for me so far.

We'll my lunch break is about over back to work I go.
