There are only two kinds of AK, ones are ready to rock n roll, others are out of ammo.
I own both.

Nice little test Zed :tu:  Between this and Joel's ongoing MP600 review/challenge, I'm beginning to think I may want one...bunch of enablers around here >:D  Can you tell me how much the MP600 weighs by any chance?  Without the extra dirt of course ;)

Sorry mate ive no way of weighing it,ive never been a gerber fan as prefere lm's as find that lm's might not be the smoothes in operation but the tools all work great, this thing is rattly and not perfect but it operates well even covered in crap and the tools do the job, still prefer my wave but bet it wouldnt operate as well covered in mud  :D

According to Gerber's site, the current MP600 weighs 9oz.

No problem man.  I wonder if that's why they're rattly   Perhaps to allow a little slack in case they happen to build up some grime or get filled with dirt for some reason

According to Gerber's site, the current MP600 weighs 9oz.

Thanks for the info Millhouse :salute:  I suppose I could have looked that up myself   I just don't trust the company specs after finding that almost every LM I have owned weighs differently than the site states.  Still, even if it's not entirely accurate, I can work with approximately 9oz.

I can just about guarantee you if I bury my MP600 out in the yard it will need a good cleaning before anything opens on it again. The dirt here is evil, very evil, unlike the dirt you have there in Dorset.

I think if your after a mt that will function well in rough conditions this is a good choice, although ive only had the rebar since wed i see this as mynew work mt with the mp600 coming in second place especially if things get dirty  :D if you font like your mt's rattly and with some play here and there this isnt your tool, but if you like them rough and ready then then this is perfect  :tu:

Yeah steve the soil here isnt too bad,now clay  :ahhh

Rattly just means it'll work better when dirty, more clearance between parts.  1911's and AK's rattle just for that reason.....

I handled a browning hp years ago and remember that was rattly as well in the slide area,i see now why rattles are good  :salute:

Ok good, I had the right idea then.  Not that my MTs typically get dirty in my limited usage and office setting.  Still, the idea of OHO flicky pliers seems fun

I seriously can't believe you don't already own an MP600 with all the MT you own. Might I suggest one in Black Oxide though. Their stainless is a little... bland.

Ha, I know right?  I have a few on my Amazon wish list now thanks to this place >:D  I like the looks of the BO blunt nose MP600, but needlenose is more useful to me.  I like the idea of the MP600 Pro Sport as well, but I don't see it in BO.  They are a bit long and bulky though, so I don't know how well they'd carry in my back pocket next to my wallet.  I may have to go with the MP400 instead.  It will be a while before I can buy another MT anyway, so I've got time to figure that out.

My Rebar is awesome but it's no AK47. I'm 99% sure that if a spec of dirt were to get into it, it would jam up the whole works.  ::)

I love my 600 but my daughter got hold of it the other day (she's 17, just for the record) and I was amazed how quickly the 'flicking' noise got on my nerves  :o
hardly noticed it while I've been playing though

I don't share my MT's with anyone! Most people just don't understand how to properly operate/handle them.

:D  It was just a matter of time huh.  Actually, I've never gotten along well with Kalashnikovs.  I'm a lefty, and the sucker spits brass at me as bad as an early AR-15/M16.  Plenty of clearance in an SMLE's action though, maybe I'll use Mr. James Paris Lee's contribution to Western Civilization instead.  Either way the 1911A1 stays in the analogy.

This made me wonder myself what the most bury proof MT is. I would have to say pst. It's so simple and when closed it's basically a sealed metal box.

well I grew up with the AK platform but I prefer the AR15 platform, although I shot it only once. it felt like a BB gun and to me that means that a lot of lead can be fired before a break is needed
