Embed video help
on: July 23, 2014, 07:08:03 PM
Okay, I give up.
I've tried many times to embed you tube videos on the forum but I just end up with either a normal link or a string of gobbeldygook!
I've tried clicking on "embed" then copying the link & pasting but I must be going wrong somewhere.

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/sZa26_esLBE?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

you're trying too hard.

Youtube links should automatically embed, just post the link

like:
Code: [Select]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZa26_esLBE
becomes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZa26_esLBE
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

Be warned, if the link starts "https://..." it won't work. Just delete the "s"
Nothing fancy to write here...

The first and third links above, I used https, but they were automatically changed to http.

The second and fourth links above, I used http, but this gives an error.

The website CMS is modifying the code.  When I use https, it automatically is changing it to http.  However, when I use http it is apparently retrieving an error video from Youtube.

The advantage of the "Share" link supplied by Youtube videos is that it only puts a link.  It does not try to embed the video.  A thread with lots of embedded videos can be difficult for some browsers to manage.  It takes more resources.
