Has Anyone reacquired a mt that they traded away?

Has anyone reacquired a mt that they traded away for one reason or another?
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

I might be crazy but it's kept me from going insane- Waylon Jennings

Not yet at least.  I have been the most tempted to get another Blast though.  It was my first one, and even though I got rid of it (sold it to Cap actually IIRC), I still like it.

Yes, I have. Mainly Gerbers, MP400 and MP600. Also, I'd really like to have a LM Crunch again.

Bought and sold the Surge twice.

I'll get a Wave at some point as I sold mine to a friend when I got the ALX.

No. I only did that with an Orion 80ST refractor and a Baader Hyperion 24mm, which are multitools in the amateur astronomy hobby.

Kind of. I had an ST200 with a twisted small driver that was exchanged at the LM store for an ST300. I reacquired an ST200 a couple years later when my user orientation mutated to a collector orientation.

This dilema always reminds me of the Why is the Surge like a boat thread. :)

I always liked the tool, it's one of my favorites, but the weight of it + added saw and file + sheath come to about 1/2 a kilo and with all the other stuff I usually carry it just felt too much. The st300 gives you almost all of the size benefits but weighs less. You loose the OHO blades and those excellent scissors but get longer drivers.

I'll probably end up with one again at one point though. It's the MTO way.

Yep, a few multitools and SAKs.  The most notable one is this Wenger Tool Chest Plus.

This is at least the third time I've had this exact knife in my possession.  I got it from Captain Spaulding, and both Ashley and Nelly1974 have owned it at one time or another.  And yes, I've carried and used this knife.  :)

Thanks for the input, Enki.  :tu:

Sounds like i´m not endangered, then.

I never was a fan of the MTs with the tools inside, and the edges out when using the pliers - so i carried a knife only for many years. Until i bought a skeletool (as a prop-collector mainly for display), and found that now tools are out there that are able to serve primarily as a oho knife (my main use), and still have some tools available. Only due to that i decided to go back and try carrying a MT.

Mainly using the blade (that´s why i prefer a good sized oho blade), next the pliers, and sometimes screwdriver - for my daily use that´s all i need, so the skeletool is now my edc.

The Surge is planned as a tool carried when i know i will fix something - then a more heavy tool than the skeletool is wanted, to accompany my real tools. Or as a more versatile tool stuffed in my get home bag.

But there is one thing i´m not sure how i´m gonna like it - the BO. To be honest i´m no big fan of that. After really using a tool i like to see if it´s dirty/oil/grease messed, and if i need to clean it (for example before putting it in my pocket or laying it on a car seat). No problem with stainless, but i wanted the 2014 model with replacable wirecutters and the price for the BO i´ve found was better, so i took that.
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

I sold my LM Side Kick after maybe 1 month of buying it.  The only thing I liked about it was the One hand opening blade. Everything else wasn't up to scratch IMO. The screwdrivers were too thick for normal jobs and all the other tools were too small to be of much use. But hey... I sold it for the same amount I paid so it wasn't a total loss...

Now I have a BO Wave on the way which should be much better in every way!

Hey Folks
- Explaining why is now mandatory if you reply to this thread!!
ie - Why would you give away/get rid of a tool - then get one again sometime later.
Seems crazy to me.

They're out there, though this is the only one I've ever seen in the wild.  Cap'n, I think that might have been the first trade you and I did.....

Three times. First was a Micra I got to replace my misplaced crosscut. Found the crosscut and got rid of the micra. That was maybe 10 years ago. I have since gotten loads of micras and given most away.

The next was a Vic Climber. I was trying stuff out and it had to go for budget reasons. I got another back in October on a trip and of the tools locally available ot was the best. Also traded away a Wave and got a new one. The Wave was the tool I regretted most trading away. Again, for budget reasons.

^^^ Exactly ^^^

I can't imagine buying a tool with hard earned cash, then for some reason selling/trading, then changing my mind and getting it back.
I am the sort of person who gets quite attached to things, and also a bit of a hoarder, so this behaviour is very alien to me.
From time to time I do give away MTs as presents and gifts/'freebies', but this is invariably of a tool that I already have myself.

Even if you have to sell/trade something for financial reasons - don't you loose out anyway, at least if you bought it new.
And then to re-acquire you doubly loose out finiancially  - So this really does not make sense to me ???
I guess if you buy, sell, re-acquire all second hand you may end up even stephens.

I did buy a Supertool 300 recently on a whim, and I possily may get rid of it, as it is kinda surplus to requirements - But I can't imagine doing that, then getting one back at some time.
I also bought a Swisstool on behalf of a friend to be a present for her hubby. I loved it - so may have to get one myself. But I am not sure that really counts for this thread as it was never really mine!
And I did buy a Vic golfer for my nephew and I don't have one of those, it is a pretty whacky and unique tool, so could see myself getting another one of those one day...maybe?
