Macbook Pro 13 inch. Good for a replacment screen
on: July 29, 2014, 03:13:59 AM
Hey guys,

I have a Macbook pro that is dead.  The logic board is shot (I think) It does not power up at all.  The hard drive is out of it.  BUT the screen was fine and the keyboard and touch pad worked fine.

If anyone can use it, let me know.  You can have it for the cost of postage. It's 4 years old, if that helps.  I can post pictures if that helps too.

Bugger. Sorry to hear that. My sisters 13" MBP screen was buggered a while ago and Apple wanted $1500 for a replacement here, so I had to import one.

Ah man, that really sucks!!  I'd love to take a crack at fixing it, but don't think I have the know how to do so. :(

do you have a different power supply (cord and brick) that you can try?  I would hate for it to be the external power supply, and you thought it was the mainboard.

if nothing else, you can take it to the (dare I say it) genius bar and ask them to plug it in for a test
If I can help, let me know

I don't know what it's like for you guys over there, but a logic board (without installation) is the same price as a new machine. I was quoted $2,000 for a replacement for my 15" MBP one.

Exactly.  And 5 months out of warranty.

Detron:  Tested with 2 different power supplies,  troubleshooting via all recommendations on the web.  One day, it just wouldn't turn on.  At all.  (although the battery level lights work).

For 1/4 the cost, I bought a Samsung Tab S, which is 90% of an entry level laptop at a fraction of the cost.  It may be the last $ Apple ever sees from me.  That same Macbook Pro went through 2 hard drives and one screen while under warranty.  Clearly a lemon from the start.

Nate, could you tell me the model # of this one?  I found out that my brother inlaw has one, with what he thinks is a dead screen.
