Gerber Diesel
on: July 31, 2014, 05:37:33 AM
hi, May I know where is Gerber Diesel is made. USA? or China
If Gerber Diesel is made in USA, I would like buy and keep because
in the future they are going to make in China like my Gerber Balance.
But the problem is the shipping cost is 50% of the Diesel
price. worth it?

Ha, I just wrote about the Diesel in you're other thread. :D  As far as I know the Diesel has always been made outside of the US, however I think it's still a well put together and capable mutitool. :tu:

hi, thanks. I suspect so because there no USA label on the Diesel. the price is ok for me but the shipping price is very expensive because it is heavy.Hence I drop it. I will be happy with my 2 Gerber 400, Gerber 600,Gerber balance and Gerber Dime.....cheers

not to threadjack.

But I picked up the diesel when they first arrived on the scene.

Does anyone get their's to flick properly like a 600 or is it just a flaw in the original design? ( it does flare out a bit )

No problem with flicking mine.  It is more sensitive to being squeezed tightly though, so try and not use too tight a grip. :)

Hi, Amazon.com have reduced their shipping charge.
I just grab the Pro Scout 600 and it came with tool bit.

I just bought one, and on the box it states "Assembled in USA of USA and imported components", so I think the diesel is a mutt! ;p).

I get the Gerber Pro Scout instead of the Diesel.why?  Because the word "USA" is stamp on the tool.

Yup, and Gerber even lists Diesel under the 'Made in USA' section on their website. http://www.gerbergear.com/content/search?SearchText=usa&force_type=0&tool_type=Tools&x=12&y=15

It may just be the case like with some Leatherman models where good part of the pieces are made in Asia and some parts like blades are made in Oregon and whole tool put together by US workers in Oregon.
EDC and OCD. A wicked mix.

Dude...

Diesel is so much better tool than MP600, basic or ProScout...

The USA stamp itself on the scales means very little.

I like china made stuff - at least it´s honest.

Not like 90% of the stuff that claims beeing from another origin, but consisting of a major amount of parts bought in china and assembled somewhere else.
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

oh I see. early I was so crazy about the diesel. After knowing it came from another country. I drop it. The Gerber Balance and Gerber Dime which is not USA made are good and very smooth.
