my best tool
on: July 31, 2014, 05:52:47 AM
My best tool is Gerber 400. why ? because it fit my requirement.
Yours may varies.
it got hand operation plier and Scissors which is a must for my fishing trip.
I used to get fish and pulling the plier and taking out the hook is easy.
I can add tool bit and it can accept standard tool bit also.
So now I can put a standard torx driver bit which I need at work.
It is light weight so I can carry all long.  I dont need the saw the gun
cleaner.
Your requirement may differ.

I was so crazy about it that I order the black version 400 also.
These are made in USA product. so better grab it before the
made in China comes in. Like the Gerber Balance which nice and
good but made in China.

I like the MP400 as well, a very capable tool. :tu:

I'm not worried in the least about it being produced in China any time soon though.  Plus the nearest Chinese made equivalent, the Diesel, is still a well made multitool. :)

The made in China debate has been done to death many times.

My opinion is that China is just as capable of making good quality tools as any other country, but they also make many cheap tools because the trade mark/design owners want to lower their production costs by cutting material, process  and labour costs, and thus increase their profit.  If proper Quality Control is enforced good tools can be made anywhere.

I agree. They either meet specifications or they don't get paid.

If someone comes along and asks them to make one "as cheap as possible" that's exactly what they produce.

I bought a multitool recently for $10, and superficially it looks very similar to the Gerber Suspension. Where the difference lies, is that I could bend the large screwdriver blade easily with my fingers.

I'm sure it either came out of the same factory as the Gerber, or it was made from the same drawings.  It all depends on the specifications that the buyer provides to the factory. The factory doesn't care what level of quality comes out, as long as they get paid.

Drop my idea buying Gerber Diesel since it is made in China.

hey, the knife come in handy when I was eating bone steak. I just slice the meat on the bone and ate it.
finally I discover a flaw on the 400 . The nail slot is punch on the wrong way which is inside and suppose to be out side like the scissor. it is same for my silver and black version Gerber 400.
