I usually use paracord with a false Turkshead on the end like these .

But recently made a sheath with an idea I had for using the lanyard as a retainer fastener .
I needed a little bit of stretch which paracord doesn't have and an easily adjustable lanyard so I used leather .
The first one I just knotted it , but I've since come up with this idea and will use it again because it works really well .

That is absolutely genius. Ain't nothing wrong with leather either. You make the sheaths yourself?

+1 on retaining the knife with a leather lanyard on a knob on the sheath being a really good idea! Never seen that one before.

Thanks

The wet molded SAK  sheaths I make actually have very good retention , but the Lanyard Fastener is just a added security feature . If I'm using the knife and re-sheathing it numerous times then I don't bother with the Lanyard . The knife needs a reasonable amount of effort to remove and is very secure,  but if I'm doing an activity where there is a possibility of losing the knife , crawling through or under things seems to be a bad one , it only takes a second to fasten it .

wow, those are very nice leather creations!   :tu: :tu:

as for many other things (MTs, flashlights, watches, bags...), I've discovered only in the near past about the lanyards, and since when I've first tried them out on a SAK, I've put them on everything!
I even came to think that the missing of a proper lanyard ring on the Swisstool is a downside (go figure...)

I tried the paracord lanyard thing for a while, but it didn't do much for me. These days if I decide something could do with a lanyard, I attach a small AAA light or something else useful instead
