Charge scissors sticking
on: August 19, 2014, 03:28:59 AM
I have been carrying a wave for a couple of years and decided to "upgrade" to a charge.  Well the fit on the charge isn't very good. Even after an extensive break in some thing just don't fit well.  The saw and the file rub the sides and the scissors stick. I think the slight curve in the scissors to keep the edges together is too great.  It's not going to break on. I even tried a little sanding the high spots but after further investigation, it's the bend in the blades. The temper on the steel feels to hard to bend. I am afraid they will snap.

Is this common?  Should I return and if so, would you suggest Amazon or direct to LM.

Looks very much like an issue with the spring and not the scissors.
It isn't moving enough. If it is the spring sticking then you can try a few things.
Apply some sort of oil.
Adjust the tension by loosening the pivot screw fastener.
Push the scissors away from the spring rather than bending the spring out.
I wouldn't say it was common.
Let us know how it works out.

It's definitely not the spring. There is a lot of resistance between the blades when using them. The pin area is loose when the scissor blades are perpendicular.  The main pivot isn't tight either.  I have oiled it well with tuff glide. Everything else is smooth as butter.

Alright, screw sending it back. Built up my courage, took my wave pliers and bent the scissors. BAM!  Fixed.  It's very tempered steel.  Be careful not to over bend. I have a feeling it would snap.
