Yup. Spyderco produces many different knives from Japan, China, Italy, and United States. They all fall in different ranges on the price side of things.

These Chinese made Spyderco's are excellent. I have owned many Chinese made Spyderco's and they are always top notch for the price. This is a $40-$45 knife. Fit and finish is pretty dang good on this one. The only thing I noticed is the screw holes have a tiny amount of G-10 left a little rough, but that is a non issue. Everything else is perfect. Lock up is amazing. Blade grind is amazing. The finish on the blade is perfect.  :tu:

Hey captain.

I don't care for the tenacious. Cool looking and spyder flavored it may be.

I took the one I had apart and the screws holding the back stop pin are way to tiny for me to trust.

Take it apart and you'll see for yourself.

Sorry that's just what I know.

Hey no worries. Everyone can't like every product.

My folders are never use for hard use so its not much of a concern for me.

I have owned a few Tenacious's in the past and they have been nothing but perfect for me. To each their own.  :tu:

Very nice, Cap'n.  :tu:  I like my Tenacious as well, and carry it pretty regularly at work.  For the money it's an excellent knife IMO.

I do agree for the money it's not bad.

I'm just picky.

I got to be able to trust my work knife.

I keep em razor sharp and I use em hard

I agree about SRM.  Enlan also makes some excellent knives, as do Rough Rider.  China stamped on a blade doesn't always mean garbage.

I got a beat up Tenacious I call "Gonzalez" because someone had it engraved with that and it has been a terrific knife.  I'd also like to add this knife is also razor sharp as well and has kept pace with what I need it for.   "Hard use" is relative to each man's/woman's interpretation from what I've seen.  This knife has seen rubber hose, air hose, tons of zip ties, wood ( shaved wood shingle ), countless boxes ( from my move ), and an assortment of other things without issue.  The only complaint I've had is the blade centering.  I cannot seem to keep it centered for the life of me.

I'm not knocking anyones impressions but this $40 knife can handle quite a bit IMO.

Great looking knife BTW Capt  :tu:

EDIT

My Ganzo had been a beast with ZERO issues.

I think SRM actually makes the Ambitious/Tenarious/... line. Dal said SRM makes some knives for them but never said which ones.

This right here. China can and does make good stuff when they are allowed too. Don't forget, some of the greatest stuff was invented in China. Black powder(maybe), cannons, fireworks, swords, armour, Type 59 and so on. Yes they make some junk, but they make some good stuff too.

That's us mobile.

And compass and paper too!  :D

Chinese made is a double edged sword, given the right QC, they do produce some great products with good prices.  I think I may have posted a link not that long ago, but I am more eager to see the more high end stuff coming from China.

I do not like the spyderco look, in general, but Sal Glesser's products seem to have good QC, irrespective of where they are made.
You set the specificarions, inspect the final product and only sell it if you are happy with it (though some companies seem to be happy with really bad QC)
