Knipex Plier Wrench
on: August 29, 2014, 11:14:30 PM
I found this Knipex Plier Wrench on the 'bay.  It didn't have a size listed, but for the price I couldn't turn it down.  When it came in I found it was the large 46mm (1.75 inch) version.  Bonus!  This tool as many have stated before is an engineering marvel!  I will be looking for different sizes!

Score. I do have a smaller one at the top of my wants list. But they cost NZ$100 here though so not cheap.

Nice. I'd like one of the little ones too - they're pricey in the UK as well.

Knipex do indeed make really good pliers in many sizes and flavours.
If anyone needs one shipped, I can buy it locally and send it wherever you want, if german retail is cheaper than international, that is.

I might look into that when I have some extra cash.

The smallest one is my wife's new "favourite tool".  She uses it to push/pull embroidery needles through when they are stiff to push because they are going through heavily embroidered sections of whatever she is currently working on.  She was skeptical at first as she thought using pliers would mar the smooth finish on needles, but is now a convert  :tu:

I liked the 180 mm Knipex Plier Wrench so I bought the small 125 mm version, too.  It goes well with the 125 mm Cobra pliers.

I often carry (EDC) the Cobra in a pants pocket and almost never carry the Plier Wrench.  The Cobra pliers can do everything that the Plier Wrench can do and more even though the Cobra could mar a fastener when used as a wrench.

The Cobra can grip irregularly shaped objects because it has teeth.   I use the Plier Wrench only for holding hex and square head bolts and nuts.

I've used the Cobra pliers to grasp hot food containers from the microwave oven, unwrap rawhide dog bones, remove small nails, twist and bend metal, etc.

I also have the 150 mm version Cobra wrench, though the smaller one rides in a pocket better.

Lucky for me I've already way overspent on tools lately.
Even though I've been looking at these for months now they are on the want list and not the needs list.
I can however continue to drool over the pics.
