Kraeuter 1821 Universal Combination Plier

The Kraeuter 1821 Universal Combination plier is an interesting plier. Having the different plier and wire cutter functions the 1821 also has a awl and screwdriver on the end of the handles. The earlier ones had two screwdrivers the awl replaced one of the the screwdrivers later. They came in 5 1/2", 6 1/2", 7 1/2" and 8" sizes. Pictuered are 6 1/2", 7 1/2" and an early 8" model. This Kraeuter 1821 8 is an earlier one. It time frame is in the 1910 to 1924.

Great collection David!,

Kraeuter pliers are coveted hand tools.  The bid price is always high on these pliers.  They are on my want list.  I was not aware of the different sizes or the early versions with two screwdrivers.

I love that plier head. I have a few pliers with those that are a few times older than I am and still take a regular beating. Literally. >:D

Chopped plenty of steel nail heads and fencing wire with those outside hard wire cutter notches. :D

Y they do often go high. I bought these a couple of years ago and found them at some what reasonable prices. There was a really nice pair of 5 1/2" at that time but the seller wanted way to much for me so didnt get them. The hunt continues.

Nik, Lineman style plier heads are tough as nails.    :D     :D   Joking aside they sure can do a lot of hard work.     :tu:     :)

Mine are marked as Gott No.10 8" and Germany on the inside of the handle. (must be a divine tool then. :P) one of the handles got shortened by my grandfather probably so I'm assuming that a screwdriver could have been there but got damaged. :shrug:
