Lookinh for screws to replace pins on spirit
on: August 31, 2014, 07:54:24 PM
I'm looking to mod my spirit but I don't want to try and pein stainless pins plus they wouldn't look as good as the original. Can anyone help me find some screws that would replace the pins in my spirit?

I cannot help you with the pins, but a modded Spirit sounds great. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I can't help you with screws or pins, sadly enough  :-[
But I sure am curious about the outcome of your modding experiment .

IIRC the pins are 4 mm. Knifekits or the like should be able to supply pivots and drill bits to accomodate them.
Remember that tools are not so easily swapped as the springs for each tool have teh same width as the tool itself.

That´s everything useful I can add. Now I´m gonna sit back and wait for your progress...  ;)

Thanks Lowtech. I want to add a tool and fortunately it is the same width as the one already there

I'm also looking forward to your progress.  Not yet an owner but if I was I'd be looking to replace the blade with another tool or make the blade only "irreversibly" non-locking.

I'm not currently an owner because I didn't like that the example sent had a 2-3mm misalignment in the handles when closed.  Your's suffer from that?    Alternatively can you see anything in the plier-end design why there might be a susceptibility to the issue?

My handles do have the misalignment. I'm usually a perfectionist about things like that but with the spirit I don't really mind.

I think Syph007 replaced the pins with screws on one of his Spirits, Metro too maybe.

I'll do a search if no one beats me to it.
