DIY Wood Stoves
« on: December 31, 2010, 09:29:24 pm »
I'm a unrepentant and hopeless, do-it-yourself, tinkerer. Found this link some time back for homebrew wood gasification stoves. I've made a few and I am completely happy with the performance. So I thought I would share.  :)

Great read. I found a YouTUbe video of a kid using a Vic SAK to make one of these.

There's a long thread on bushcraft UK with dozens of excellent hobo stove creations.

I love this kind of stuff :)

This guy makes one of the best one's I've seen. He's also on the BushcraftUK thread.

I like his style. All his gear has that old school look about it. No plastic handled hatchets for me thanks. :)

This is my DIY wood stove
Its not as clever as some on here but is very easy to make

I found an Ikea cutlery drainer and a couple of knitting needles in the charity shop

I used a 70mm hole cutter in the side and added four 20mm bolts as little legs
I'm not sure how long the knitting needles will last with a roaring fire under them as they are made from Aluminum

I need to find a pot that will fit inside the cooker  :)

Just need to test it now  :tu:
That's a little outside my skill set
But then again, that's never stopped me in the past  :D

Apparently they quite often get these in at the charity shops
Well worth a quid  ;)

I'm still looking for a little stainless steel container to fit in the middle

I will try it out ASAP :salute:
