i think what im going to do is go for the road bike still and do up my mountain bike for in the winter :)

sounds like a good plan, for me back in the days i raced i had a top end racer for racing on and a winter hack with mudguards plus my MTB, these days as i dont race my audax bike is perfect for comuting and training on plus with a rack ideal for light touring, my MTB is for fun off road, my audax bike is set up the same as my racing bikes back in the early 90's so still feels fast on the road but stronger but not as light weight, i look forwad to pics ryan  :tu:

basiclaly what mine looks like  :D although a few of my old winter racers where made of reynolds tubing mainly 531, winter hacks are road bikes but usualy have clearance for mudguards,  :tu:

 :rofl: on my mountain bike id suspected that the bottom bracket needs replacing well i had about a 30 cm long allen key on the end of my bottom bracket socket to undo it an hour later it still wasnt budging, i was getting annoyed by now. Sooo...

i got a meter and a half long bar and still struggled to undo it! i can't believe how hard it was to undo! ( and no i wasn't turning the wrong way :D )

turns out it is buggered so i now need to find a replacement - are there such BB's that are user serviceable? IE you only replace a bearing on it rather then the whole thing  :think:

the best BB is shimaos sealed units, they last forever once fitted  :tu: they do need a tool to fit so i would take it to a bike shop to be fitted,

only bad thing it says on the reveiw is that they changed the brake from shimano to tektro, im sure it wont be an issue though. Very excited now!

i have tektro on my bike ryan and they are very powerfull and after 2 years still work great , just as good as the shimanos ive had in the past,  :tu:

ive learnt as ive gone along ryan had to realy as my dad left when i was 9 so i had to fix all my bikes, then miles of touring and stuff breaking gets use used to adapting stuff and fixing stuff on the go, your get there in the end mate, although i still get my brother come over with his bikes with punctures etc, he never learns  :-\ ive given up trying to teach him now  :D

I had a go on a TW-Bend Artifice this weekend and I have to say is was great.  I haven't the cash to buy one right now but perhaps in a few years I'll be in a position to get something similar.
