I took a nice ride yesterday

Its to warm. I don't mind it being sloppy but that wet ice is slick and I always dress to warm and get overheated.

This is mine

That looks like a really nice bike. It's a Floater for sure

PleaseTell us about it.

It's a Trek FX 7.3, weighs in at just under 10kg, and I hope it'll help me get in shape :D

Very nice mate  :salute:

Thank you :D

I also looked at the Trek CrossRip, but decided the racing handlebars wouldn't be practical for daily commutes in the city, plus, it was about €500 more expensive :P

I assumed so much, and I do really like the look of them... But that bike was still €500 more expensive, so that decided it in the end :P

Good choice on the Trek.I've never ridden anything but a road bike, although I have considered a hybrid in the past,I eventually bought another road bike.

I'm still riding a 12 year old Trek 2300.It's battered and beaten but it's still in excellent mechanical condition.I had the Speedplay pedals installed and a few other accessories.Unfortunately my wife liked it so much I had to buy her one as well.So in two visits to our local bike shop my wallet suffered a 5K loss.Oh well,we've both enjoyed and benefitted immensely from these bikes.

I'm ready for another ride but I'm not looking forward to the expense involved in purchasing two more Treks.

PS: This will be our third Trek purchases in 30 years.Man,how time flies.

The CrossRip is a nice looking bike. I ride a Fuji Touring bike with drop bars and use them very rarely. Even though I don't use drops, the bars offer enough of a variety of hand positions.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Some nice bikes in here

Will have to post a recent pic of mine- UK members will likely recongise the frame (On-One). Nothing like a steel frame single speed!

I have to admit I am thinking about changing my rigid front fork for a suspension one though. Most of the trails I ride on are very rough / rocky and it kills me!

Went for a ride today, I overestimated how nice it was out. Did 9 miles with a vicious headwind  Felt good to get out and ride though, unfortunately it looks like it'll be a while before I can hit the skatepark

Here's the prettiest rig in the house, Dad's 1997(as far as I know) Schwinn Homegrown. Schwinn's attempt at the booming high end market when mountain biking was really beginning to take off. All Homegrown models were USA built by companies contracted by Schwinn. The factory race models are said to have been built by Yeti in Durango CO(one of the best niche frame builders of the time) and the regular models by Controltech in Seattle.

This I think is one of the Controltech models as far as I know, but it really is a delightful frame. We picked it up for an exceptionally low price compared to what these go for on Ebay and such.

The photo doesn't really do it any justice :-\

Thanks Mike! It's a smurfbox, but its a smurfbox that I built up, so there's a small bit of pride there :D. I cobbled it together from spare parts with a free frame since I go to school in a less than stellar city, I'd be gutted if something happened to one of my good bikes. But honestly, for what it is, it's a hoot to ride. Pretty light, and moderate gearing makes it accelerate pretty quick, doesn't shy away from jumps or drops either.

Hahahahaha, yeah, hopefully soon it'll be more miles and less photo breaks. Single speed and fairly thin tires don't mix with snow well.

Higgins why no front brake? I raced bmx for a long time and its usual not too have a front brake as it is for dirt jumping, but ive never seen a xc mtb with no front brake, shame you dont live in the uk as ive got boxes of spare parts going from 1990-00 , but hey if it works for you  :salute:

My own stupidity really lol. 95% of it's life is spent on the road, so I really wasn't thinking for the trails when I built it up. I have a few spare sets, but I like the simplicity of the one brake and one gear. Not too much to get messed up if it has to be locked up in the rain, or ridden hard and put away wet. But I do appreciate the offer, don't worry all my other rides have both :D
