 Not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but does anyone here know of a good mountain bike light that is bright, can handle rough riding and is inexpensive? Say, sub $40 american.

Thats going to be a tough one. I'd stay away from anything from a big box store. You might be able to find something on Craigslist that might need a little work.

Kind of reminds me of the Dodge Tomahawk. Even though it is only a slight resemblance. 



Just in case you are not familiar it is the fastest "motorcycle" (has 4 wheels) in the world. Last I heard its top speed of 420mph was only theoretically proven as no one could/would drive it that fast.

It's designed by a guy called Brant Richards, ex of On One and Ragley, now running a company called Pact Bikes, and is going to be made in China by Waltly Titanium. I've owned four frames he's designed - all mass produced. This is the first one that's properly bespoke for me and the kind of riding I love to do.

Looks like you are a loyal to Brant Richards bikes. Never heard of him. Will look him up. I've got a short torso and at one point wanted to get a custom frame but a baby came along and it is on hold.

I am a big fan of Ti bike. I love my Ti Litespeed so much I got a carbon Litespeed as well. When I get on my Ti bike after a while it is like wow, just the perfect balance of stiffness and springyness for me. Not as fast as my carbon bike but cannot beat the ride feel on that bike.

He used to write for them both as himself and under the pen name Zak Tempest, IIRC.  Top bloke.

I used to have an On-One Inbred 29er MTB, 2 of the Planet X Kaffenback road bikes and a Pompetamine fixed gear.  Great bikes.

Dunno about loyalty - I don't buy them because he designed them but he designs the kind of bikes I like to ride, IYSWIM.  I've had one Ti bike - an Airborne Zeppelin road bike that was great - light, comfy and fast - unfortunately it got stolen.

The new one is an all-weather long distance fixed gear with full fenders mudguards and disc brakes.  Going to be my go-to bike for commuting and audax/brevets.  Here's the first sketch, detailed drawings to follow:

Very cool chris,my dream custom woul be a custom ti cyclox bike with full mounts and disc brakes,i always wanted the ti merlin mtb with the headshok on it,i look forward too picks when it arrives mate  ive been using my Audax bike alot recently as very comfy to ride plus start my new job mon night so will be easierto ccommute on

My 1999 Litespeed Tuscany Ti bike I have been raving about. A lot of upgrades have been done over the years but I have been trying to keep it look like a semi-classic. Those Zipp decals on the wheels will be removed when time permits.
