How many people willing to pay such price for a piece of clever designed metal...

You'd be surprised, my friend. Just hop over to our cousin EDCforums.com and have a peak from time to time. The latest craziness recorded was from a member who picked up Vox Snail knuckle tool/bottle opener on a secondary market for over $200.  ::)

Many treat this type of pocket cr@p not as practical tools but key dangler man-jewelry (I am also guilty of that  :P), and when you move up the scale from tool to jewelry, price seem not to be a concern anymore for most. Those Atwoods for example never get used, only shown and bragged about. There's maybe 1-2% of their owners who don't mind marring those mini-tools.

I happen to own about 40+ pocket/key chain tools, mainly pry bars bottle openers type. But even so, I don't own any Atwood. For me it's a principle.

Don't worry, it's normal for China-sourced gear. Actually sometimes it takes up to and over 2 months.

Very few of those sellers have the stuff they sell, in-hand. Pretty much all place an order with their Chinese suppliers and that takes time. That's how it works over there and worked all along ever since.

Chinese procured stuff from eBay, Aliexpress, DX, etc are the same.

Cheers.

I actually have a copy of the TEC P7 dangler that wasn't much cheaper, but it had free shipping. It's not very good to use - too stiff, but at least it holds tightly. Does anyone have the original? I'd like to know how it is. I heard it doesn't close completely i.e. there's a gap?

Not with those tools and not from those sellers, unfortunately.

But most of them will happily re-send if you haven't received the goods within 2 months from payment.

Yes, looking like this might take forever, if I do get the goods in the end. Only time will tell.

If it's the EDCgears I know, they only ship with tracking. If it's any consolation, my Para-Biner knockoff took 2 months.

Well not wanting to put a dampener on things, but I don't think that edcgears shop is selling on ebay any more. I had a look at it when I first saw this thread, then tried to find it a few days later and all the stock had been removed.
Pictures of most of my work can be found on my Facebook Page.
Also have a look at my Shapeways Shop and SW Torch Shop for 3D printed items.

That's odd. When I found it originally I must have done it via ebay US, as it's definitely blocked to ebay UK users.

That is one of the main reasons I don't like made in china anything.  They dont respect international copyright and trademark, and there is no way to enforce it.  The whole fake trade is disturbing.  There was a great BBC documentary called the fake trade and it was crazy what they fake over there.  One guy showed how he makes fake eggs, saying they cost less to make then real eggs.

Fake eggs at about 22:50

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTjf-iy4Nxk&feature=player_detailpage#t=1370

I tried to buy some pokemon GBA games for my son on ebay. 90% of them on there right now are fakes.  I had to do alot of research to learn how to spot the real ones.  Im disgusted with the level of deception.  This isnt even getting into safety concerns with fake medications etc...

Oh I understand from your point of view since you want to collect and compare, its just the practice of deception I dont care for.   Its one thing if you know something is fake, but its another to be deceived and tricked out your money.  The goal of a fake is to trick someone and take their money.

I have nothing against chinese brands that are not fakes, like the knife brands.  They arent trying to deceive or fool people.

I think you might not be able to see items they won't ship to you. Every time I search I have to set the seller to "worldwide" too. Otherwise it doesn't show Chinese/HK sellers.

Update. EDCGears has re-sent the package with a tracking number...or it took that long for his suppliers to supply him with the goods in order to be shipped. Either way, if all goes well...looks like it should arrive sometime this month.
