Mp650 heads onto Mp600??
on: September 16, 2014, 09:37:01 PM
Has anyone tried to fit the mp650 heads onto the regular mp600 series?
I can't get to mine at this moment but I'm pretty certain it would involve some grinding plus drilling then tapping the mp650 heads to allow it to function like regular 600 series heads....i.e slide.

I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Basically, the 650 heads are 600 heads with the nubs that protrude through the opening in the handle and are fixed with the clipgroiund off.
So yes, you would have to drill and tap them and I guess you could use parts from a Diesel head to fix them to an MP 600 chassis.

What are your plans?

Hi lowtech

It's not me actually, I've been chatting with Steve (tattoosteve99). I just wondered if anyone had actually done this and if it was possible without extensive modifications.

Wouldn't it be simpler just to use an MP600 head of the type you want and swap that in ?   Or are you thinking of using one of the less common heads (eg technician/fisherman, cable cutter) that you already have ?

Hi Greg

As mentioned above, its not me. Steve  was wondering if the heads could be swapped over. I don't really know what he has in mind, but knowing Steve as we all do - you know it would be something different.

I guess using the plastic slider, lock pin and spring from a Diesel (or maybe freehand or flik?) will be the easiest way - or usin g teh lock pin and spring from a MP 600 and fixing the headf "Mr Pinchy style" with bolts above the handle.

It should be adoable, as teh heads come from the same cast.

I´m looking forward for the things to come...

Only looking for a MP 400 head or are you looking for an MP 600 head, too?

As far as I know, asked metro, 400 and 600 are not interchangeable. So just the mp400 fisherman. I have 4 mp400 already.
