My Style PS(Di)
on: September 24, 2014, 12:27:23 PM
Someone posted about key-chain tools recently which prompted me to look out my Style PS.  Got that for small pliers only and not for the nail file and certainly not for yet more tweezers.

Since I was never going to rely on all airport screeners accepting it why not replace the file with a small blade.   Small Victorinox about the right width but not a big enough tang.  Ex-Dime blade has a big enough tang to re-profile but seems a little wide.  However by sacrificing the tweezers and a slight tip re-profile its a good fit.   And I hardly consider loosing tweezers a sacrifice

Nice mod! I have a need for small screwdrivers so it would not work for me but I like how it turned out!

  :tu:

That turned out very nice, I like the Dimes blade shape a lot.

nice work. I wonder if I can change the blade from the CS to the PS?

Can't answer yes or no, hopefully someone who knows will be along.

The nail file is 1.2mm thick and the PS scissors are double thickness.  So if the CS blade is much thicker than 1.2mm there *may* be a problem (to solve).

hmm... not entirely sure about this one. I've swapped the blade from a CS in place of the scissors on the PS, which would indicate that the blade tang is roughly the same thickness as the scissors. (I haven't measured.) so it sounds like some thinning would be required to fit the CS blade in place of the file on the PS.

nice work on the mod, pingu! :tu: I've been meaning to try the same thing with the package opener from a Dime, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

From memory the blade is slightly thicker than the file. Should work ok.
Now I don't remember why I did this and I no longer have it so can't look it over for you but here are a few pics.
I must have wanted the nail nicks facing out maybe, I don't know.
Looks like a PS4 blade, same thickness just different nail nick placement.
You may need to thin out the inside of the plastic piece some, like I did.

Looking at the OP again it looks like you don't need to thin it out, just remove the tweezer standoffs.

I like that you spotted the wasted space in the scissors pocket.  Something I didn't consider.  Like less that you saved the tweezers :D.

I detect a "hint of Juice" in the plastic scaled handle thickness.  I reckon LM could easily deliver some extra space on that side.  Well done for fitting the scissors in though I personally drew the line at thinning the plastic.
