Pradel Knife with Wrench
on: September 24, 2014, 07:13:37 PM
I saw this one on the 'bay a few weeks ago and watched it through two or three cycles before some bought it for the princely sum of $25 US plus shipping.  I looked up Pradel knives and found there is a lot of counterfeit Pradel tools.  I don't kow if this is real or not, but the mini wrench in the tool set was too good not to document. So I grabbed some screen shots to post it for posterity...

I almost bought it the first week it was on auction, but a more interesting Plierench came up for auction and my bankroll went there instead.

That and it looks like it is missing the scales?  I'm not into modding or rebuilding.  Absolutely no interest personally, although I do like to see what others have done.  :o

I could see this with nice set of custom stainless or silver alox scales....

Nope, those steel slabs are all there was. :salute: Nice spot on that one Lyndon. These old French-made tool knives don't come up for sale very often. The version with the wrench (like you posted) was made for bicyclists. Pradel was the knife-maker, while Verjoux was a French manufacturer of wrenches and tools. Clearly the wrench-knife was a combined effort on the part of both companies. :)

Interestingly, they also teamed up to make this glazier's version. The "wrench" is now a measuring caliper, with size graduations etched on the side. And there is a hardened glass cutter wheel mounted out at the end of it. 8)

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools
