I could never see the appeal (of the tool not FB )

*warning controversial statement*

these are ok(ish) for opening the odd can if you're stuck in a survival situation and have a can without a ringpull and no SAK, but other than that they ........... well they are just pointless

I'm guessing it's one of those things were there is no in-between; either you love it or you hate it? Don't have one myself, due to the exact same reasons as TD - if I'm somewhere without either a SAK or MT with a can opener, I'm problably in a situation where a can opener would be the last tool I needed.

The beauty of the P-38/P-51,from what some of the old war vets have told me, is that those venerable can openers did more than just open cans :salute:

I've carried a P-38/51 on me longer than I've carried a SAK or multitool.  Versatile little suckers.  :tu:  I "liked" the page right after it was mentioned on the MT.O FB page.  I still need to get myself a FRED......
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D
