My 6 months at MTo
on: September 28, 2014, 09:23:24 PM
After seeing hiraethus post a picture at his 6 month mark ( http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=54280.0 ), I thought I'd like to do the same.  I lurked for a couple months before posting anything, but was still getting plenty of info from you guys.

Anyway, here's what I've amassed since then.  When I joined, I owned a Wave, a Wingman, a Squirt PS4 and a Squirt ES4.  The rest is somebody else's fault ;)

Left to right, top to bottom:
-Original Super Tool, PST, PST II (x3), Mini Tool, Micra, Squirt S4, BO Blast, BO Fuse
-Wave, Rebar, Wingman, Sidekick, Juice S2, Style PS, Squirt PS4, Squirt ES4, MP600
-Outrider, SwissChamp, Bushcrafter (modded), Electrician, Pioneer (x2), Super Cadet (modded, obviously), Classic, Rambler, and Fieldmaster, Super Tinker, Yeoman, Tourist, and Classic, who've been de-scaled in preparation for some mods.
-On the sides, jars of SAK parts, and various sheaths

Edit:  I now have a Sideclip on its way as well.  I'd say the enablers have defeated my self control so far

This is true.  Definitely got sucked into tracking down LMs.  Maybe the next 6 months will focus more on SAKs.

Wow! Nice "work"   ;)

But still missing few "essentials" like ST200, OG Wave, Charge, Surge etc  :D
EDC and OCD. A wicked mix.

@PTRSAK I've got a few flashlights, I'll add a pic tonight.  Honestly though, the only one I regularly carry is an Olight i3s.

@bdAmmo I'm still looking for deals on more PSTs.  I like finding the rusty, dirty ones for cheap and cleaning them up.

@babola ST200 and OG Wave are on my want list.  I'm saving the current, in-production models for birthday ideas for my wife and others :)

@detron thanks!

Haha of course not.  The five (PST/PST IIs/Supertool) that are currently in my possession were obviously rare in their rusty condition. ;)

Here are the flashlights and folders.

Top row: Solarforce Z1, Foursevens Preon 1, Olight i3s, ITP A3, Princeton Tech Blast (cheap incandescent), Solarforce L2.  Bottom row: Case Sodbuster Jr., Case Medium Stockman, CRKT Drifter, Ontario Rat 2

I sold most of my folders when I started buying SAKs.  I very rarely carry the Rat 2, I need openers and drivers more than I need a dedicated folder.  So this grouping has actually shrunk since joining MTo...interesting

Interesting, I sold off a bunch of various folders including some tacticool ones when I stated buying SAKs and MTs too.
Still have 2 or 3 but don't miss the others.

I also EDC an Olight i3s -- great little light!

speaking of enabling, I think I might have an extra OG Wave or two around here...

I think I should take some "before/after" comparison photos of my gear.

Going from an #8 Opinel, a 2AA MiniMag incan, a Vic Classic and a Harvester to around 40 pieces -not counting flashlights- is not something I can only blame on myself. My wallet hates this place, I'll tell you that  :D

@ Breezy - Favorite is a tough call...I still compare every tool to the Wave in regards to functionality, but it's a little big (for me) to pocket carry everyday.  I really like the engineering/design of the Mini, I may end up with more of these down the line, just to fiddle with.  But I've developed a soft spot for the PST II.  I like the tool set for daily use, and in a very slim package.  So if I had to pick, it might be the PST II.

@ cap - Thanks!  Hooked is a nice way to describe it without questioning my sanity

@ firiki - I actually took a before picture for another forum.  Maybe your collection thread will pop up soon?  :pok:

Reckon a original Wave, Charge and a Farmer would compliment your collection rather nicely.    :D

May have a chance at the original Wave very soon.  The orange alox started as a farmer, but I do need another one.  Or maybe add a saw to one of the pioneers.  And the charge...well that's a lot of money :)  Someday...

There are very few multi tools that do it for me like the OG Wave, the PST and the Sideclip...all others seem to pale in comparison  8)

OG Wave for the win!

I'll try and update, need to get some privacy or else I can see my wife going a tad berserk -with good reason.

Here's what a few months of just lurking at the MTO forums had got me to:

Good to hear, since I could have all 3 of those soon!  I really like the new wave, and since seemingly everyone who has the original wave prefers it, I'm excited to try it out.
