Why are pocket clips so hard to come by on Mt? Love ya leather man for thinking of us that don't like a sheath hanging off our belts!

Possibly because it will make gripping the tool a bit uncomfortable. Just a guess though.

I do appreciate when Leatherman puts clips on their tools, but its always on the wrong handle.  That's why the Sideclip is awesome. It is on my preferred side.

Finally found a Sideclip for myself, on its way to me now.  This was very appealing to me.

I've got the clip for my wave, and I'll use the clips on the Sidekick and Wingman.  For non-clip MTs, I'll use the sleeve that comes with the Sidekick to carry in my pocket, since it keeps them from sliding around.  An ok alternative.

The Sideclip is a great tool and is quite thin making it not noticeable at all when clipped to your pocket.  :tu:

How does that work? Ive seen some kind of clip that you can like super glue to just about anything..... darn infomercials, but I don't really trust adhesive, other than say, liquid nail :D. That stuff sticks to your tools and fingers REAL good

This wasn't too professional, but I salvaged a clip from a pocket knife and just mounted it through one if the mounting screws on a Gerber Mt. I don't know anything about sak tho, but its was a pretty good red neck mod :D

It use strong double sided tape, it holds strong enough as long as you cleaned the surface well before applying. I really need to twist and pull and cut the tape when I removed it.

Agree 100%.

Leatherman (et al) really needs to design a simple and slim MT that incorporates a clip, alla Sideclip. Something like an "executive" Leatherman; thumb-opening blade, pliers, bottle opener, flathead & phillips.

I too love my Wave but can't wear it to work in a belt pouch. I hacked the carabiner off of a Skeletool and swapped out the standard bit for a double header. It does the job, length is perfect but is too heavy and too thick.

As for adhesive for clips 3M VHB works perfect. I highly recommend.

I carry my multitool on a clip often if it comes with one.

I think it should be a option on every multitool

 Most don't for some reason.

I have yet to try the niteize clip on multitool but I did stick one on a small knife sheath and it worked well.

the Skeletool has a pocket clip and all the tools you listed, if you allow the bit driver to count for the flat/Phillips drivers. it also weighs in at 5.0 ounces... which is exactly the same weight as the Sideclip. :) not sure why you would hack the carabiner off, since that kills your bottle opener.

if you're looking for an "executive" style MT, I think the Skeletool CX fits the bill nicely. the DLC coating gives it a nice polished look, and the clip allows the tool to ride low enough that it's very inconspicuous in the pocket of a pair of slacks. personally, it's one of my favorite EDC MTs.

Breezy12, I have the CX and agree it makes a really great EDC.

A few things bother me though. Weight and thickness - just wish it was a bit lighter and a bit thinner. Although I agree that it carries quite low and well in the pocket the top portion of the tool is bulky and sharp. I find myself struggling to access other items in my pocket.

I chopped off the carabiner in order to cut down on weight and, more importantly, the length. I find that often times a dedicated bottle-opener is expendable. The ol' lighter or table top trick suffices when a bottle of suds presents itself.

Still waiting for that EDC that perfectly marries weight, design and function. I'd like to see something similar to the size and weight of the Juice or Style line with an exterior one-handed blade.

Can't have everything though, right?

Skinny Charge?

I've never handled one but I always thought the Charge was around the same size as the Wave, no?

Was thinking more along the lines of something about 3.5" closed and less than 5oz.

Still a work in progress this one:

Have made a new pivot for the pliers so i can attach the clip but I'm still waiting for some new metric screws to arrive so I can finish it off.

DECO665, I thought you were after a full-size (4") tool that meets these requirements, and I was wondering how you'd expect a tool like that to come in anywhere under 5 ounces and still be a strong, durable tool. I didn't realize you were considering smaller MTs as well.

I think someone attached a thumb stud to a Style CS blade to make it OHO... I might need to give that a try, although I also have plans to put a completely different blade on a Style. (I'm not a fan of those chisel-ground blades.)

Yes, the Charge is the same size as the Wave. I'm pretty sure JBW1 is talking about the Skinny Charge that I modded. It weighs in at 7.3oz, which is a full ounce less than the stock Charge ALX, but it's still significantly heavier than what you're looking for. It's noticeably thinner for pocket carry though. :tu:

Possibly because it will make gripping the tool a bit uncomfortable. Just a guess though.

I do appreciate when Leatherman puts clips on their tools, but its always on the wrong handle.  That's why the Sideclip is awesome. It is on my preferred side.

Just thinking, would you be able to flip some tools around and get the gap for the clip to the side you want?
