Looking for a Leatherman Hybrid
on: October 11, 2014, 10:16:05 AM
Hi Chaps,

I am looking for a Leatherman Hybrid as a pressie for my better half and another step in convincing her that multitools are a good thing - She is a keen gardener - and this looks like a great tool - shame they discontinued it IMO.

Anyone got a spare one - or know where I could get one?
They don't seem to come up on ebay - You get quite a few hits on the internet but they invariably lead to an 'Out of Stock'

Thanks guys

PS. Metro - I'd be really delighted to take your Hybrid off your hands - But somehow I think that one is not for sale  :D

They do come up on eBay ocassionally, but lately they have been fetching silly prices.  :o

Good luck with your search.

Yeah, the Genus is a much higher quality pruner (I think it uses Felco parts for the actual pruning components, and Felco are good quality pruners).  Unfortunately higher priced as well ......

it does. :) I managed to score a lightly used Genus for my wife recently, and I replaced both the spring and the blade with Felco replacement parts. :tu:

I wonder what Leatherman would offer to replace a Genus or Hybrid with if sent in for warranty?

Hey Guys - Thanks so much - Fantastic :)
I had been keeping an occasional lookout over the last few months - and never saw any on the Bay.
- Not cheap though - Especially that Genus :(
Time to get on the thinking cap!!

Re warranty Captain - They don't replace (with Hybrid/Genus etc) or repair.
When I was searching for one recently I found a blog, where someone was moaning about this.
He'd had a problem with his and sent it in....
Leatherman replace with a tool of equivalent value - eg Current pliers based tool.
This guy was moaning that pliers based has no value to him as he wanted a pruner
Not a totally unreasonable point :(

I have a NIB Hybrid I was going to be putting up for sale; I got it from a small hardware store a while back.
