Leatherman Rebar Age Stamp Question
on: October 16, 2014, 12:37:18 AM
Hello All,

I recently purchased a Black Oxide Rebar to supplement my LM Wingman. I mostly bought for the sheath, saw, better file, replaceable wire cutters, awl, and Leatherman logo on the plierhead (i'm crazy, I know).

I was curious about a few things. On my Wingman, the date of manufacture is stamped on the inside of the tool. I looked all over my Rebar, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know where it's at?

I think that my philosophy on the Rebar is more of a working MT, while the Wingman is a bit more convenient for EDC. I like the quick deploying blade on the wingman, but I like the straight edge on the Rebar. When I am carrying my rebar, I feel like I need to be carrying my folding knife(smith and wesson ck-105, opinions?). I also like the scissors and package opener on the wingman.

Anyways, I love my multitools and this looks like a really great community to talk about them

No you're not alone.

Most of us speed-read these days...we're adapting to a new age of information overload where one simply doesn't have enough time to read with attention to detail we used to in the past.

Unless you're dyslexic or overly ADHD...in that case I cannot add much to discussion ;-)

I'm not sure if the Rebar has any date codes, I think not.

And I don't trust a knife made (branded) by any of the gun makers. ... Well maybe Glock. ;)

Just checked mine and I believe you're right.

While there are part numbers stamped on the inside of the handles, the date codes aren't.

Welcome to the forum.

Some Rebars have codes, some dont. I have had two, and other did not have code, and other had. Sometimes they were stamped poorly, that you really needed to look for it. You can date it by looking at your saw. There is earlier model, and present one.

The Glock field knife rocks! Only problem is they come incredibly dull, but once you put a edge on it your ready to go and those Glock field knives are nearly indestructible.
