Precision screwdriver tips on a full-size standard hex bit

Hello all,

I use the Leatherman Removable Bit Driver and would like to have the option to use an "eyeglass screwdriver" that I could carry and use with the Bit Driver. All precision screwdriver bits I have found are smaller than the standard 1/4" hex bits. Does anyone know where I might be able to find any bits that have the precision tips, but still have the standard hex base? Thanks.

Check out specialty electronics stores (maybe Radio Shack?).  I know that, locally, Fry's electronics sells them.

One thing you might run into is when you need the precision, you don't always have the elbow room for the full size driver shaft behind it.

You might check out Home Despot and Lows- they have kits that have an adaptor from 1/4" to 4mm, an extension and bits, but they are not always the highest quality. That being said, you don't generally need a lot of torque  with this size of bit. While the Wiha bits probably can survive rough use, these are lot less expensive. You also see more of these kits as seasonal items in the run up to the holidays.

Although, promo items start coming in in a week or two...

So the Whia 75802 makes it so the micro bits fit in my Wave bit holder?

Forgot to ask is the mini driver on the Wave #1 phillips size? That is the small driver I use the most with my 3 year old Daughter.

Nate

Ok thanks.

You don't happen to know what size the little driver on the Wave is?

Try the wiha type tiny bit, but grind down the sides to make it fit the interchangeable bit holder on your wave? Just a thought

I the past I made this precision bit adapter for my Wave.  I took a regular 1/4 inch hex be with a 4 MM drive on it and glued it in precision bit holder from an old precision screw driver.  I then ground down the 1/4 inch hex bit side to a profile that would fit in my Wave bit holder.  Works great.

The Vic mini screwdriver fits the Leatherman Removable Bit driver so it should fit the Leatherman Bit Extender too.

You might have to lightly sand the mini screwdriver if there are any small plastic nubs or burrs but it does fit!  :)

It never occured to me! I'm going home in a hurry to test it, since I have a round one on my XLT and the hex is on the Swisschamp.

Tested and works great with all my hex holders, from Victorinox, Leatherman and OEM. Now it is much easier to use. Swiss genius!
Why didn't you say so all that time? I have two hexagonal mini drivers and one is going to be EDCed from now on. I wear glasses and might have used my Victorinox mini drivers some hundreds of times all these years and on certain occasions they slipped from my fingers and I had to find them as they rolled away. Now they feel as a proper precision screwdriver.
I guess they thought of this form when they produced the Swisstool's wrench.
