The metal one is my favorite. It has a small dent and by far the smallest needle container.

The Golden one is a beauty. Seriously in good condition and gorgeous albeit a bit girly.

Its already borderline for a MAN to carry a sewing kit, this one at least has some rough edges and looks as manly as a sewing kit can look :P

This one is in best shape. However, it does not close tightly enough, I have to check if I can rectify that.

Those are some wonderful little capsules/sewing kits.  I'll have to look on the bay of fleas and see if I can locate one.  What would I look for?  Sewing capsules?

I wouldn't know, got them of a flea-market. There were many available, so by my estimate they must have been pretty popular here for some time.

You can get the capsule in ebay for around 10-15 €. Just type in sewing kit, capsule sewing kit or vintage sewing kit. These things are around 50 years old. The rest you will have to make yourself, but it isn't all that hard.  :tu:

Empty chapstick or pill containers. Peanut lighter or keyring capsules. Recycled bic lighters or vivid marker pens.

Two problems, does the thimble fit and how do you organize the inside. Especially, if you look at the golden one, the thread-spool with needle container, is what makes it special. That said, it should be fairly easy to come up with a solution for that too.

Let me repeat myself: You can get the capsule sewing kits on bay if you search for sewing kit, vintage sewing kit or capsule sewing kit. As for the price, you should be able to get them for something like 20$. Now go get them...   :D

I just did a quick search for 'pill fob' and came up with a million useful containers, but none of them have that olde-tyme goodness of the pics posted above.

Anyway I am on my smartphone and don't have the time to continue this, so just type "sewing kit" in to the search bar of ebay hit enter and do some scrolling.

I have the Raine sewing kit. For those who want something small and easy to pack that isn't anything one would describe as feminine.

I have two actually. The pouch is perfect for ear buds and cables and such. So one became an EDC bag organizer. The other is intact save the scissors. The Raine scissors suck. I prefer the Slip n Snip type.

Finally got a capsule sewing kit $2.  Its pretty neat and quite compact.  Two different color threads with pin and needle stowed in the center.

Here's my small sewing kit I've had in my bag for the last 6 or 7 years. I carried it for work - I was a support worker for a guy with an acquired brain injury and did 24 hour shifts at his house. I used to repair a lot of his clothes with it.
This is the case - an old mint box:

Inside is a plastic memory card case which fits perfectly:

Beneath that are some buttons, twine and a couple of razor blades:

In the memory card case I have secured the needles in some blu tack and there are a couple of safety pins too:

Very nice.  I have used my other sewing kit on several occasions.  It's actually pretty surprising how many buttons pop off. I guess also with kids the tendency is greater.

Thanks Aloha - it's not as nice looking as your examples, but it's nice and pocketable. I find my buttons are popping off more and more with this sweet middle aged spread I'm working on.
